BETA EC for GT60 0NX (16F3) & GT70 0NX (1762) Laptops (0NE, 0ND, 0NC)

Hello, i have a msi gt60 0nc 491xfr that I bought with freedos, the bios on the laptop is the 10U windows 7 but on the laptop keyboard, the windows shortcut is the windows 8 picture. I upgraded the graphic card to a 780m and installed windows 8. I have issues making work the nvidia driver, could I flash to the 51X bios and the windows 8 beta EC ?

I upgraded the 670mx to a 780m, installed windows 8. I have issues installing nvidia drivers ( driver_power_state_failure BSOD) , also has nvlddmkm.sys BSOD before with windows 7.

Could I flash the bios to the windows 8 bios 51X and the windows 8 beta EC ?

On others forums they advice me to not flash a windows 8 bios.

Also why is it only show the 50X windows 8 bios in msi support webpage for the gt60 0nc ? Where the 51X came from ?

nope, you can't flash to Win8 BIOS, its not for your notebook

Lol svet, an other mod of German msi forum answered me on another forum :

we talk about the 51x and this works perfectly with the GT60 0NC and with the MS-16F3 Motherboard, incl. the MS-1762. i?ve tested self 4 devices, all works perfekt with the 51x. The Bios is from 04/2014 and comes from the MSI Server.

You can use the 51x bios incl. T18 EC Firmware for the GT60 0NC. Than you can take every Nvidia GPU, because you have now a Kepler GPU, so you can use the Heatpipe for a GTX770M/GTX780M. The GTX870M and the GTX880M could also work. But you should make sure that the cards from MSI and Medion devices come, although these have slightly less vRAM, but are 100% compatible. To recognize are the most MSI cards on green PCB.

You can use all the 51x for Windows 8.1. You must enable UEFI and Secure Boot.

You don?t need the the Cooler Boost 2 Heatpipe, you can also use the "old" pipe for the Kepler Cards...

But if it works with a "non" MSI GTX780M, I?ve tested the OC VBIOS from svl7 (Techinferno) for the GTX780M, so that the device remained hanging in the bios, when UEFI is enabled. With the original MSI VBIOS everything worked perfectly.

From win7 to win8 users flashed before and it can be done,
but once flashed to win8, roll back to win7 is not possible
and for notebooks with win7 who crossflashed to win8 bios,
there was some side effects, therefor users wanted to flashed back,
when they do this and force its brick the NB 100%

Yep, I know you already flashed my 10U bios. You mean the only dangerous thing would be that I flash then win8 bios to win7 bios ?

The guy said that flashing a win8 bios would solve my compatibility problem of nvidia drivers, I am stuck with the 335 version.

Hey, just flashed the bios and EC and now I don't have anymore the pop-up on the bottom right saying the device has stopped but was recupered, I had always this message before launching a 3d application. Also good new, in gpu-z, in computing all the case are checked and now I can see the power consumption, wasn't able to see this before. I just run a 3dmark11, I didn't installed yet the 340 but I am pretty sure it will install without problems.

Also I noticed that the brightness with the high performance settings 100% seems to be less bright. Maybe have to config something in nvidia drivers ?

nope, those firmwares are only for older models

Hum, I had 10U bios with T16. On the zip of 51X there is a EC firmwire named t18 that I used. Is it a beta EC ? Should I put the t17 ?

I am soo gratefull for posting this EC it eliminated the throttle completly and increased overall performance of the laptop my gt70 is running better then the day i got it.

Any chance for something similar for the GT72 ? There is a modded vBios for GTX970M and GTX980M out in the wild (techinferno) which allow for quiet some heavy OC (unlocked wattage limit) but it seems like GT72 users are hitting another wall with the systems total wattage.

Had a quick question about this and would be grateful if anyone can help. I own a GT60-0NE laptop which is currently running windows 8.1. Would I be capable of using this bios without any adverse affects? In other words, will this function on windows 8.1?

I got a low gpu usage problem on my GE60-0NC.
Could you please tell me where can I get a EC firmware like this?
BIOS: E16GAIMS.10F (Prema mod) and EC: 16GAEMS1 v4.04.
Please help me

Most likely there is nothing that can be done for the GE60/GE70 0NX series. I would not recommend doing it.

darkhawk, thank you for reply. Can you recommend something else? I have a same problem such as in post #81 which has been solved by flashing this EC firmware.
