Yes, hosted here should do less or remove throttling but will increase heating.
But best you can test it by your own and decide which one to use

The original one only seems to work on 32 bit, How to fix? Is it that I need to run in "DOS"???? How to do that?

Sorry for software n00biness xD

Any chance these include support for a program of some sorts to manually change fan speed?

Would like to ask if your modded firmware (disables cpu throttling + PPU disabled)handles much better in resolving cpu throttling compared to the latest official ec firmware from msi? http://msi.com/product/nb/GT60-0NC.html#/?div=Firmware

Thanks alot and please dont ignore.
Hello omega939, this question already has an answer shown in the original post which indicates "This is an one-time release and there will be no further releases.", thank you for asking.

Hello qhfreddy, this can only be done in DOS since there is no Win-based utility available, thanks.

Oh ok, I'll have to get my parents to help me with that =D.

Or is there a guide of some sorts of how to do that?

@Warner or to any Moderators,

Would like to ask if this modded firmware also is compatible with windows 8 for GT60/70 users? If not are you going to release one? It would be good news if you release one for Windows 8 users too.

Many Thanks

Hey Warner.

This beta EC for the GT60 removes brightness control. OS is windows 8.

I would like to thank you for this EC as it eliminates throttling, thanks for your hard work. :)

I just did it and didn't get any control back. I did it also after flashing.

Thanks.

Aha.. looks like this custom EC is for .4xx version only for those NB who comes with Windows 7 preinstalled.

My NB had the windows 7 EC previously installed. I upgraded to windows 8, and upgraded to the windows 8 fw. Then, I flashed the beta EC to prevent throttling.
I think I know what went wrong; I'll try flashing the beta EC over the original firmware tomorrow and will report back.

Then "16F3EMS1.504" is not your original EC like you tell?

ok so I just tested,

Win7 EC: No Brightness control
Win8 EC: Brightness control available
Beta  EC: No brightness control

Is there any chance that the beta EC would be updated to fix this issue with windows 8?

Thanks!

What's your current BIOS version installed and does it original one that comes with NB? [ie: no crossflashing is done]
