Beware of fake MSI Afterburner downloads

There have been some fake websites which claim to offer MSI Afterburner, but their improper software actually includes a cryptocurrency miner, so victims will be mining coins for the people behind the scam. It's all explained here:


Those websites are advertised in phising campains as well as being maliciously pushed towards to the top of the Google search results.

I installed the software for error but it seems that I don't have the " browser_assistent.exe " file...
my Karspersky doesn't find any threats...

can I consider my PC safe now?

Get a bootable antivirus (eset has one for example) and scan your PC from there.
