BIG BANG MARSHALL ISSUE WITH MUSKIN 8GB RAM

i have a big bang marshallk with the latest bios / and i have 4 sticks of muskin ram 7-9-7-24 at 1.65 volt - TOTAL RAM 2GB MODULES = 8GB

now the thing is when i click on xmp profile the bios does not select the proper timeings of these rams - when i enter mem-z and click on xmp profile then that information seems to be correct.

problem is i can seem to manualy set my time to 7-9-7-24 the rams are black line 1600mhz and on my rampage extreme 3 i overclocked them to 2100 mhz even no issues.

but on this mobo at default 1600mhz system does not boot --- very strange issue indeed - it just gets stuck at some point - either wont post - or even if it does then a3 message at bottom of screen and lock up.

again i have to re set cmos and start again ---

i spent a lot of money on this mobo / cpu --- whats the point that i can even over clock it --- rampage extreme 3 was phenomonical -- excellent over clocker

pls help ..

will a future bios fix help -- why is it doing this -- at default 1333 sys runs fine ..


same ram on rampage extreme 3 i took to 2100mhz -- but here in this it wont even run on its default speed - even changed volts to 1.65 but no goo

Default for Sandy Bridge is 1333. Perhaps a ticket to MSI Tech Support can help. They may have a BIOS that will provide improved RAM compatibility.

a friend has vengenace ram from corsair . even he managed to take it up to 1866 - on his asus sabertooth sandy bridge mobo ..

what the hell is this MSI ..........

This is not official MSI. This is a user to user forum. The admins & mods are not MSI employees. Nobody here gets paid.

Doesn't photobucket require an account?

Use imageshack.us instead it doesn't require an account.

I'd recommend photobucket--even if you have to make an account--which is not difficult nor intrusive.  Imageshack uses ads and pop-up/pop-under ads to support this "no registration" which is annoying to the person trying to view/click on the image(image link).

coz in bios screen when i click on mem-z and xmp profile information there is ok - but when i select xmp profile then it shows 1600mhz but the timeings are all wrong ..

hence system refused to boot at all --- have to re set cmos --

epic fail as with a board of this stature it wont boot on 1600mhz even --

Yes, I believe that is correct regarding an incompatibility problem. Whatever SPD profile are on those RAM sticks is most likely responsible. Once the screenshots are posted, it will be easier to come up with some recommendation and/or suggestion. :-))

The timings are usually only as correct as what they are in the SPD written profile on the RAM modules. Your CPU-Z screenshots of the SPD tab should reveal this.
As far as performance gain in realworld apps go, Sandy Bridge does not benefit significantly from RAM speeds higher than 1333. see here https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=147704.0  The instabilities experienced are not worth the benefit.

the xmp profile is correct but right now the system has put 9-10-10-25-2t ..if i try to change this even applying 1.65volts ..it gets stuck - the most it will do is reach a3 screen at bottom -

whats wrong

Maybe... And I repeat: maybe!
XMP profile is for older platform. I am sure 1.65V is way over specification for SB platform.

strange that it will let be  boot with 8-9-7-24 at 1600mhz with 1.65 volts - i think its either the 4 sticks - will be geting 2 sticks of 2000mhz muskin or g-skill rams .

lets see if i can over clock to 2133

The best chance to achieve 2133 RAM speed would be to use RAM 'rated' for that speed or higher. 2000's are most likely already overclocked, undertimed, & overvolted to reach 2000. Depending on the intended usage, fast RAM has a slight advantage with video encoding & final rendering, & a few other applications. For gaming, the RAM speed in this platform has nearly a zero impact when OC'd by itself. As you can see, a few memory/memory timing related issues have been delt with.  Please give that release a try even though your particular RAM is not mentioned in the changelogs.  The effect of the mentioned changes may also have an impact on your configuration.

can u please tell me the best and safest way to update the big bang marshall bios .

i dont want to brick it ..so need help in that ..
