I have a Seagate Go Flex Pro drive that I attach to the esata port. It only shows up in Windows 7 64 bit every other boot up. It shows up every other start up like clockwork. I do not have any other issues with the computer. My 12 gb of ram shows up fine. The interval between start ups doesn't matter: one right after the other, or a day apart.

This drive works fine on two other computers.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Craig

Have you tried plugging it into both eSATA ports?  One is a normal eSATA port and the other is a combo eSATA/USB port.

The SATA ports are controlled by the 3 different chips (SATA2: Intel ICH10R, SATA3: Marvell 88SE9128, eSATA: JMicron JMB362) so make sure you have the latest drivers for the JMicron chip and that the setup looks correct in the device manager (no warnings).

The trick about working every other boot is certainly odd but stranger things happen.  It could be due to something that breaks and resets itself the next boot but won't actually work until the system is restarted.  If you looked through the device manager and event logs you would probably see something along those lines.

Dilburt,

Awesome, you answered the question I forgot to ask. I couldn't remember what controlled the esata. Yes, I've tried to use both the esata & esta/usb ports - same result.

I'll try updating the JMicron chip.

Thanks,

Craig

So.... Where do I find the JMicron drivers? I don't see them on MSI's site. I might be looking for the wrong thing though.

Thanks,
