Hoping this helps someone else, but I couldn't figure out why Bluetooth wasn't appearing in Device Manager then I started testing BIOS settings one by one and found it's due to an unrelated setting with HD Audio. When HD Audio is disabled, Bluetooth will permanently disappear until CMOS is cleared then Bluetooth reappears.

Bios Version: All current versions through 7E49v1A15

Steps to replicate:
  • Clear CMOS and boot to Windows
  • Bluetooth is present
  • Disable HD Audio in BIOS settings and boot to Windows
  • Bluetooth is missing permanently until CMOS is reset

Other settings don’t seem to affect Bluetooth and re-enabling HD Audio in BIOS does not re-enable Bluetooth. Also, yes, I'm running a clean install of Windows and tested with multiple versions and the Windows installation isn't the problem, it's definitely a flaw with the BIOS. It also doesn't seem to be a problem with the WiFi/Bluetooth mini-PCIE card itself as I've disassembled and checked that also.

I've also read others having WiFi issues. I don't use WiFi, but I haven't had an issue with the WiFi portion of the card. Other than Bluetooth issues, I was experiencing random freezes prior to AMD releasing the 6.10.17.152 chipset driver, but those seem to be resolved now.

So if HD Audio is never disabled, the problem won't appear? Sounds like a BIOS problem to me? did you report to MSI?

Yeah, most people are unlikely to notice. I reported to support, which just told me to RMA the board, so I figured I'd share here. Looks like Svet was able to report and MSI confirmed.

FYI:
MSI people duplicated the issue, they are working on it and I will update this topic when the solution is available.
Thanks

Thank you! As a heads-up there are missing drivers for ASMedia’s ASM4242 USB4 on Win10 (but available for a similar chipset on Asus' site). Aside from the LAN drivers that are already posted, I think those were the only other ones that were missing and not picked up by Windows. (I'm running Win11, but have an old key and Windows forces you to install Win10 first to activate when swapping motherboards so others may run into the issue also.)

  1. I have an MPG Z690 Force WiFi. Bluetooth disappeared from the Device Manager. Windows Bluetooth troubleshooter said to do this:
    1. hold down the power button for 10 seconds (the PC shuts down)
  2. 2. unplug the PC's power cord and leave unplugged to 30 second
  3. 3. reconnect the power cord and reboot
  4. The Bluetooth icon was back in the Device Manager and all good thereafter. It's worth a try and didn't need anything fancy with the BIOS.

Your issue is not the same. The issue on our X870E boards is a BIOS bug that results in the mini PCIE port being disabled when the HD Audio option is turned off in BIOS settings. Your issue is a result of a static charge causing interference (and why holding the power button and removing power solves your issue). These are totally different and unrelated...

This is very helpful, thank you very much for posting. I am having this problem on my 870 Carbon Wifi although I had the onboard audio disabled for weeks with no problem until I updated from bios 12 to 15. I have had many problems of minor nature with this board, more so than any I have owned before by far.

Just purchased this board yesterday and have a SoundBlaster X4. I am having the same issue since I automatically just disable HD audio on any new board I get. Guess I'll do a CMOS reset and just disable the integrated audio in Windows.

Anyone having cold bootup (computer was turned off not sleeping) problems with PCI_E3 slot not working and having to restart pc many times for the pcie card to work i.e. soundcard

It's the same for me. My x870 Carbon doesn't work.
Doing the CMOS reset makes the Bluetooth go back, but now I'm seeing that the Wifi is gone, so there's something else that I didn't get and that causes a problem. I also noticed that there is a drop in performance after restarting the computer, so I do the entire CMOS reset cycle and BIOS configuration, then the performance returns, but when restarting or shutting down the system, on the next boot the performance drops.

Thanks all for this info. Same issue/same solution with cmos reset. One thing extra I noticed when I was tooling around. It seems like if you just disable audio in bios and save the config withOUT restarting/exiting BIOS, then enable it and save and restart, it may still not show up. I am on the V1.A15 beta BIOS.

I have that problem to in my case it seems like if you disable the audio and disable the onboard video, it disables both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.clear CMOS enable XMP and it seems to all work.
