Hoping this helps someone else, but I couldn't figure out why Bluetooth wasn't appearing in Device Manager then I started testing BIOS settings one by one and found it's due to an unrelated setting with HD Audio. When HD Audio is disabled, Bluetooth will permanently disappear until CMOS is cleared then Bluetooth reappears.

Bios Version: All current versions through 7E49v1A15

Steps to replicate:
  • Clear CMOS and boot to Windows
  • Bluetooth is present
  • Disable HD Audio in BIOS settings and boot to Windows
  • Bluetooth is missing permanently until CMOS is reset

Other settings don’t seem to affect Bluetooth and re-enabling HD Audio in BIOS does not re-enable Bluetooth. Also, yes, I'm running a clean install of Windows and tested with multiple versions and the Windows installation isn't the problem, it's definitely a flaw with the BIOS. It also doesn't seem to be a problem with the WiFi/Bluetooth mini-PCIE card itself as I've disassembled and checked that also.

I've also read others having WiFi issues. I don't use WiFi, but I haven't had an issue with the WiFi portion of the card. Other than Bluetooth issues, I was experiencing random freezes prior to AMD releasing the 6.10.17.152 chipset driver, but those seem to be resolved now.

Try different USB pen drive, make sure it's FAT32 format. Or simply place it under C drive.
That's how I always do it. I've used all the versions available on the site (support section), but this file for me isn't working. I even find it on the C: drive, but when I select it and tell it to start the flash process, nothing happens. I may have to do a CMOS cleanup before attempting to upgrade.

Just wanted to comment on BIOS E7E49AMSI.1A1B... Confirming the Bluetooth bug is fixed and the BIOS is stable. I spent some hours gaming and didn't have any issues. I'm also able to disable HD Audio without Bluetooth disappearing.

Overall, I highly recommend upgrading to E7E49AMSI.1A1B.

wait, I posted a thread about my bt not showing after I flashed the bios to the latest. I do have the audio disabled. but I have also cleared the cmos many times. but its not making sense to me as to disabling audio then having to clear cmos to make bt work again. wouldnt clearing the cmos just re enable the audio again? if thats the case why disable it in the first place. so basically. the bt being gone has to do with disabling the audio. also. the bt and wifi are on the same hardware. my wifi works fine if I put it to wifi only. why wouldnt the bt work like that if i put it to bt only. its not making sense to me at all. i think the problem is msi pushing out these bios updates and not fully checking what glitchs become about after making these bios changes. just for the hell of it im going to enable my audio then im going to select bt only to see if my bt is working. if it is. then msi needs to fix that in an updated bios. some of us use dedicated sound devices not onboard and some of us dont use wifi because we are hardwired. therefore the bt is more relevant to us than the wifi.

You're overthinking this... It was a bug in the way the firmware was coded, which is now fixed in version E7E49AMSI.1A1B (posted by mods above). Just update to the 1B BIOS and call it a day. Yes, most products have issues within the first few months of release, which are fixed by firmware updates. Fortunately, MSI seems to release updates pretty quickly.

ok, now the biggest question to this whole situation is. why is this "NEW" bios update not on the msi support page for the board ? I dont check forums to look for new bios updates. I goto the msi boards page then click on support and this bios is not there. asrock has horrible support just saying.

If you've been on forum long enough, you know moderator has their own MSI contact to report issue and get fairly quick reply from MSI. That includes software, BIOS, driver etc.
You'll see the same BIOS (or even newer version) published to MSI website later. All being said, if you worry the BIOS is not authentic, just wait for MSI website release or contact MSI directly.
And you will get the same solution most likely.

I'm not worried about authenticity. I just don't understand as to its almost a month since the last bios release and this issue has been since. if this version fixes the issue it should have already been on the website. the last release is still labeled as a beta and this one is isn't even on it.

wifi wasnt working at 1A1A. now 1A1G both wifi and bluetooth not working. fans also freeze the system in bios if you try to edit voltages as also reported by others in uk overclockers forum.
1A1G not working. pretty rubbish board if it behaves like this for the money you pay. I'll try to replicate RobsonByte's work around

I found another way to edit the values: press the "+" and "-" buttons instead of typing the numbers. If you type the numbers, the BIOS only accepts the first character and does not show the others.

I'll go and check that idea, thanks. I haven't had a chance to buy any more fans yet, the stock installed ones on my corsair case aren't operating. but I intend to have all my fans PWM instead of voltage controlled so the voltage issue wont affect me.
In the meantime Ive confirmed at least to myself that the wifi issue might just be a qualcomm driver issue in Zorin Linux that was not able to be updated preventing my wifi from working there. Inadvertently I've now successfully got a dual linux/windows boot going and both load up successfully. I can get wifi in windows 11 but not in linux. Bluetooth is fine on both.
Now I'm not sure if it just happens to be working for me on the 1A1G bios released yesterday or if it has something to do with syncing my existing windows 10 account from my old computer and syncing all files and settings over to windows 11 on the new computer. I suppose I'll continue with windows 11 and periodically check for drivers for linux.

and then I played with the bios again and wifi stopped working again in windows. had to reset cmos but at least I saved a bios profile. After resetting the BIOS back to default, wifi comes back again. I really don't want to play a process of illumination to work out which setting is the offender.
Edit: I spoke to MSI customer support and they couldn't advise when another BIOS would be released. They said they had never heard of this issue. I advised them many customers are having this issue and the advice I received from their engineer was to send the board back for a refund but they then explained it might happen on other boards using the same components and architecture. They said maybe go to intel, I cant obviously because I have a ryzen processor. I still have 2 weeks to send it back. Maybe another BIOS update will happen in the next couple of days, otherwise its going back.

anyone check out 7E49v1A1G?
Yep. After some shenanigans with other forums & after all that no sleep fog yesterday, while nodding off at the computer I accidentally clicked on a download folder and MSI emailed me directly just questioning my Qualcomm driver. I honestly thought I had already installed it twice because I remember downloading it twice directly from MSI's website. Maybe in my sleepiness I have confused that attempt with Linux, but it appeared I actually had a much older WIFI driver installed.
I've updated that driver now and can confirm that WIFI does now work with X3D Gaming mode turned on which was the cause of the dropped WIFI in the 1A1A BIOS release.
After also speaking to MSI on the phone they also confirmed in an email that they were able to reproduce the BIOS freezing on fan voltage attempts in the 1A1G BIOS release. I did try an unofficial 1A1D BIOS release, then went back to 1G to test again. MSI then confirmed they are looking at fixing that fan voltage freezing issue and will fix it on the next BIOS release soon.

I tried again in Linux but nope. Maybe a firmware blob will be the answer there.
I'm happy that MSI have provided direct & quick responses to me and being able to quickly talk to someone on the phone without going through too many phone options or departments has reaffirmed my faith in MSI as a reputable company to deal with.
