Hi Guys. I flashed my bios with the wrong file and as a result It won't boot. The only option I see that I can do is replace the bios chip with another or replace the board. On the MSI K8T Neo can the bios chip be taken out and replaced? if so, how do I do that....where do I get what I need? I live in California so if there is a place on the internet it would be best if it was somewhat close so I can get my computer back on running! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There's no way that you can exchange the BIOS on MSI K8T Neo, the chip is permanently soldered in. All *new* AMI BIOSes are soldered.

Thanks guys for letting me know. Now is the K8T Neo the best board you think? Or should I get another one? I want to be able to have a 3rd ide to be ata 133 and for the board to be a descent price. Anyone? My only problem with this board is the sound on it was not working.

There often is an emergency option such as putting a valid BIOS file on a floppy and booting with in installed and holding some keys down on the keyboard. Read the manual carefully for such an emergency option.
This option will then force an update before the BIOS actually tries to load itself.

Good luck,
Simon

Yes, if you created an emergency floppy before flashing BIOS, you should be able to renew it. I think you press Ctrl + Home when your system boots (have the floppy with the BIOS in the drive), and the BIOS should renew its self to the one you had before.

i could be wrong but i believe on AMIBIOS if u have the correct bios update and the amiflash utility .. not sure exact names .. and just leave pc on with floppy in drive they can auto recover from the floppy ... u will need search for the exact info .. i think u name the bios .. amibios.rom .. or something

hope it works on ur pc

For AMI BIOS:
1. Rename the desired AMI BIOS file to AMIBOOT.ROM and save it on a floppy disk.
e.g. Rename A569MS23.ROM to AMIBOOT.ROM
2. Insert this floppy disk in the floppy drive. Turn On the system and press and hold Ctrl-Home to force update. It will read the AMIBOOT.ROM file and recover the BIOS from the A drive.
3. When 4 beeps are heard you may remove the floppy disk and restart the computer.

I would try that first before buying a new Board
