As of right now, some of the newer bios's for intel platforms need to have the ME version flashed as well as the bios.  In order for this to happen, you need to do one of two things.

1.) Ask for us to provide a bios w/ a necessary file to use the forum flasher. (This is included with all applicable beta bios's.)

2.) Use M-Flash with ME the MSI recommended way, but one that seems prone to bricking one of your bios's.

Also, after the bios is flashed, you need to install the most recent ME drivers inside of the OS.
>>MSI Downloads<<

This is all applicable to all LGA  1155 and 2011 socketed boards.

In regards to all LGA 1150 mainboards.

In order to properly flash both the bios and me extension it is recommended to use FPT. (attached)

Just place the program and fp parts on a dos bootable usb stick along with the bios.

Syntax:
fpt -f xxxxx.xxx -savemac

Warning: This version of FPT will brick previous board generations. This is only for use with LGA 1150 Mainboards.

All flashing is done at your own risk!

In regards to previous board generations, please continue using the forum flash tool and archives here on the forums.

Any overclocking improvements with the Z87-GD65? I'm doing fine right now @ 4.7 ghz with the 4770k.

Also, this is my first MSI board so I'm just concerned I'll turn it into a useless paperweight. Especially since I have to flash the BIOS and the ME now.

I just got back from vacation tonight, but when I left the forum flash tool hadn't been updated yet to for the Z87's and will only work in Mode 2. (No ME flash)

Right now you can only either do a manual fpt flash or use mflash. If it isn't broken, I would wait for Svet to fix the tool :)

Hi

I updated the BIOS on my Z77A-GD65 yesterday and now it won't boot. Well, I can boot it in to BIOS but it won't boot into Windows 8 or any live usb/cd.
The previous times that I've updated BIOS I've done it with a live USB but now I accidentally press "Total installer" in Live Update instead of "Download". Maybe that is what f***ed it up?
Now I'm trying to go back to previous version but I'm not sure if it will work.  I'm trying to do it from within BIOS since I can't boot anything. It just tells me there is no OS and tells me to press Ctrl+Alt+Del to reboot and if I plug in a USB drive it tells me to remove it and then reboot.

Anyone that know any other ways to fix this?

Cheers

Found a solution, not the best but it works for now. Disconnected all 3 SSDs from the computer and only plugged the one with Windows 8 back to the black SATA 4 (asmedia?). Might have been an issue because I got Ubuntu 13.04 on one of the other SSDs. Works well this way but I would like to get it all back as it was.

HI

Here is my question.

I've got a Z77A-GD 65 gaming mobo and flashed it under pure dos (with afudos) the uefi bios with this command
(with a proco Intel 3770 K).

afudos (lastbios) xxxxx.P10 (v 25.1)

Everything was fine, except that now i always have in Bios the old firmware ME v 8.1.12.1318
instead of having the new ME i.e  version 8.1.40.1416 (that is also the purpose of this new bios v 25.1)

Now I would like to install in ROM only this new ME, keeping right the new installed bios.

Can I do that under pure dos booting with theses commands ?

1?/ afudos /ME            (newbios)
or
2?/ afudos /MEUF        (newbios)
or
3?/ afudos /ME /MEUF (newbios)

4?/ Anything else ?

Thanks for you help because it's curious to have a new bios with  old ME firmware.
In fact I've some trouble with the behavior of this mobo under windows 8 pro
when updating the Nvidia GE Force 780 driver in a normal way, the system hangs up
generating a bsod.

Hi!
Could you please provide me with a file so that I'm able to flash the ME firmware with the forum flasher? It's for z77a-s01 and I used the forum flasher to flash 2.11 (2.B) but ME remained the old version instead of 8.1.40.1416. Or is mflash safe now?

I may have already posted the bios you want here: >>BIOSes<<

Any of the LGA 1155 boards bios that I have posted contain the valcheck file. If your isn't there just zip the bios you want up with valcheck and use mode 1 of the tool. If you have trouble let me know and I will get what you need for you.

Yes it really was that easy! I had to make the zip file because the on latest 2.B (2.11) beta for my line of board, Z77A-G45, S01, S40, S03 & G45 MVP, there was nothing about the ME FW 8.1.40.1416. The official 2.B contains the ME FW 8.1.40.1416.
All went well and now all the right versions are in place! Thanks again xmad!

Hello

As already said, i've flashed under pure dos (afudos) my mobo Z77A-GD65 gaming
with the new bios  XXXXX.P10 (v 25.1) but ME firmware remains always v 8.1.12.1318
instead of being 8.1.40.1416 (as said in bios's log).
Yesterday, I reflash my bios using the Forum flasher option 1, and it's the same
problem : flashing was alright, but ME firmware remains the old version v 8.1.12.1318.

Conclusion : Impossible whatever the tool used to flash correctly a new bios with this
mobo ! (idem with MFlash tool included in Bios which is unable to flash anything !)

Have u heard of a correct bios containing the correct ME firmware 8.1.40.1416 for this mobo ?
Thanks a lot

You did nothing wrong. I assume that you flashed to version 10.10. That version is bugged, the problem with not booting into windows when you have several drives connected is an issue for almost everyone. I flashed back to version 10.8 and everthing was fine. I would recommend using the forum flash tool and make sure you download the bios file from this forum. If you download it from the official MSI website, intel ME firmware won't install and you will probably get serious stability issues (boot loops). I flashed with the forum tool and beta version 10.8B3. Now everything works perfectly again.

Hi, i update BIOS on MSI Z87-GD45 Gaming with latest beta version 1.5B4 from Xmad post. I use flasher included in .zip file. All is OK, but now i get in device manager error about Intel ME driver "A device which does not exist was specified." Then i use MFlash from bios with ME option, but results is the same. Is Intel ME missing from this latest bios? Thanks.

Updated the top:

In regards to all LGA 1150 mainboards.

In order to properly flash both the bios and me extension it is recommended to use FPT.
