Hi everyone!!

This has given me quite a headache for the past few days.

Does anyone know what tool I can use to modify BIOS files with a .100 extension?
I did quite a search and all could find about that extension is this:

http://filext.com/file-extension/100

To give you an example: I got A7536ICI.101 which is the custom BIOS for the 945GCM478-L that allows to increase the FSB on the board.

I've used all the tools that I know about (MODBIN in it's various versions, AMIBCP, and AWDBEDIT), changed the file extension to BIN, AWD and ROM without any results!! :wall:

Am I omitting any other editing tool? or is there a tool that can convert those files to BIN, AWD, or ROM so that these programs can read them?

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Why you want to do that?
What you want to mod?
Even if can be read-ed by those applications that will corrupt your BIOS for sure.

The file extension .100 does not have a specific meaning besides indicating the Version of the BIOS-File.  Since A7536ICI.101 is an AMI BIOS Release (the A at the beginning of the file name signifies that), the natural extension would be .ROM.  Also, AWARD BIOS Tools like modbin do not work with AMI BIOS Releases.  If you can't open the File with AMI Editing tools, well, that happens, they simply won't work with this BIOS then.

Also, you cannot convert BIOS Files.

Well,

I've done this a few times before and I do it to unhide options in the BIOS that are sometimes hidden and to add CPU microcode when a certain processor is not supported or not working properly.

I always have a backup BIOS and EEPROM just in case something goes wrong, or I can hot flash it too. :bonk:

I really haven't had any real problems before, until now since I can't figure out a way to read them.

Thanks a lot for your input guys.

It just occurred to me that I tried all but one version of AMIBCP: 2.42

So I found it, tried it, and guess what, It WORKS!!  :worship:

I guess I'll double check next time that I actually tried EVERYTHING I have before asking.

Once again thanks!!

chicorrumbero, be very careful when you use a BIOS File saved with AMIBCP.  Usually, these files are corrupted, at least with the 3.13 version.
