BIOS update of msi gs66: rom image version is invalid

Hello everyone,

When trying to update my MSI GS66 11UG BIOS to version E16V4IMS.119, I get the following message:
rom image version is invalid. rom image update is denied

Hi, I only saw this message when having unzipped bios on memory stick in a folder. As soon as I put the Bios files in the root, all worked fine.
This might help. Also, I needed to enable bios setting to enable bios upgrade.

Thanks for replying. In my case it's the same, even after placing the BIOS file in the root of memory.

Have you found a solution? I've never had the screen tell me it's trying to repair and try to reboot to fix the problem.

Any updates on this issue? Mine is identical. Note that original BIOS is "E16V4IFB.10F", which google has never heard about.

Where did you buy the laptop?
I think you have a different version of GS66. It is suggested to check with the dealer.

Did you see the previous comment?
Your BIOS name is different, which could mean that your laptop is a special version (like an OEM version) that cannot be upgraded to the BIOS on the MSI website.

Check the current BIOS version installed on your laptop, make sure you are using the correct version to update.
For the serial number, you can also check the sticker under the laptop. The serial number could be erased after fresh installing the system or replacing the motherboard.
