I'm starting a new topic with the idea of posting here any information regarding the BIOS update for the Msi Mag Z790 Tomahawk wifi DDR5 version. You can also share information about the stability, benefits, and issues of the update here.

A new version of the Bios has been released
7D91vH9
2023-11-08
Description:
- Updated CPU uCode.
- Updated Secure Boot mechanism.
- Updated OC Auto rules.
- P-core Beyond 6GHz+ feature optimized with i9 CPU.
- Intel APO function optimized.
- ME Firmware ver: ME_16.

Good luck ;)

You have the same CPU as me. With the previous BIOS (7D91vHH), I got 29,272 points on the multicore test with Cinebench R23 using the Noctua NH-D15S cooler after 30 minutes of testing, with a maximun of 257 W (PL1 and PL2 at 253 W), CPU lite mode 7, CEP disabled, and reaching a maximun of 89°C withou thermal throttling. My memory settins are DDR5 at 6400 MT/s. Of course, each setting is a different world.

From what you've described, I understand that you used the same BIOS values as before. Remember that after the update, all BIOS settings are reverted to defaults. Like in previous BIOS versions, it’s important to note that the CPU lite load setting may have been rescaled. The value of 6 you entered may correspond to a higher value in the previous BIOS.
Thats a nice temperature and score then you have.
I tried different steps and at the even lite load mode 2. No difference , still around 70 degrees.
Did not test a stability test but played for 30 minutes Battlefield 6 , game push the cpu a lot off times to 135 watt and was “stable” but temperature still fluctuate between 69 and 75 degrees.

Maybe the cooling plate makes bad contact with cpu. Will see if i can re-seat this week the cooler. Or maybe have to buy that contactframe to test it further to improve the contact.

This new BIOS shouldn't affect CPU temperature or stability, since it only includes security fixes.
In any case, a contact frame makes the difference. I use the Thermalright contact frame since the first moment I build my setup with good results.
A contact frame and a good thermal paste shold be enought. Let's see if other users have the same problems as you with the new BIOS.
