I'm starting a new topic with the idea of posting here any information regarding the BIOS update for the Msi Mag Z790 Tomahawk wifi DDR5 version. You can also share information about the stability, benefits, and issues of the update here.

A new version of the Bios has been released
7D91vH9
2023-11-08
Description:
- Updated CPU uCode.
- Updated Secure Boot mechanism.
- Updated OC Auto rules.
- P-core Beyond 6GHz+ feature optimized with i9 CPU.
- Intel APO function optimized.
- ME Firmware ver: ME_16.

Good luck ;)

Yes, at 14600k the mat does not want to keep the multiplier equal to 53, the thermal speed increase kicks in. Even if you manually set the offset to AVX with temperature restrictions etc., the motherboard still ignores this and resets the frequencies for large cores to 5200 MHz. Even if the TVB is turned off, there is no reaction. But at a frequency of 5400 MHz everything is fine.
Good evening! MSI heard me and fixed the bug in BIOS 7D91vHA, which I described above.

Can anyone explain what the ME firmware is ? I've updated my BIOS using the flash utility in the BIOS using a USB stick, I assumed the ME firmware was the same using a different update method i.e. via a command line ? or the ME firmware a 2nd update that must be applied ?

I've just done some searching, it's the intel management engine firmware, just wondered if it might solve my memory channel A not working issue, seems unlikely it'll help but I'll install anyhow.

As far as I know, the Intel Management Engine firmware update is for security issues. A vulnerability was discovered a short time ago and has been fixed with several updates of this firmware.

If you have a memory channel not working, you might want to look at your socket pins to see if any are bent. Just a thought.

I am still on version H80. If I want to upgrade to the latest BIOS, should I first upgrade to previous versions until I reach the latest one, or can I install the latest version directly?

Good evening! The problem was with AVX and remains the same. The effective frequency on E cores drops significantly. You'll have to sell the motherboard. Very disappointed in MSI.

New bios
7D91vHB

- Update Code Base.
- Improve system stability when switching to CSM mode.
- CPU uCode version 0x123 was updated for CPU performance optimization by disabling the CEP function for the 14th Gen CPU (stepping B0).
- Added Intel 12th/13th Core processors to support Intel Application Optimization (APO)

- ME Firmware ver: ME_16.1.30.2361 (download)
- ME Firmware update SOP

I'm on BIOS 7D91vHA, I have no problems with it. I saw that there is a new version of the BIOS to update, but I'm afraid of updating to the 7D91vHB and changing something that is already working well. But at the same time I always like to keep everything updated. do you recommend updating?

Considering the stability issues that have been described on intel's 13th and 14th CPU-Ks, it is quite possible that MSI will release a BIOS containing a profile with intel's reference values, just as ASUS has done. I don't know if this latest BIOS version (7D91vHB) already includes microcode that prevents the CPUs from going out of control.

I would update the BIOS. If your system has issues, you can always revert back to v.HA using a USB drive and the BIOS button on the rear I/O panel in a worst-case scenario.
Hope this helps.

I just updated the BIOS here! Everything seems to be working very well and without any problems. thanks!

I can't make APO to work on my 13900KF togheter with Tomahawk DDR5 after newest BIOS version B0 and ME Firmware to 16.1.30.2361. I have enabled DTT in BIOS, installed drivers from MSI website and install newest version of APO app. Still get the "Failed to Connect" error in APO app.

I have a question. I recently updated the bios and noticed that my XMP had dropped from the frequency I had set it to. This is normal? When you update the bios do you have to redo the XMP to the frequency you want? sorry if this was a layman's question

When BIOS is reset or is updated the BIOS returns to default settings except for the fan curves. To answer your question, yes this is normal, and you will need to reset XMP to the frequency you want.
Hope this helps.
