I'm starting a new topic with the idea of posting here any information regarding the BIOS update for the Msi Mag Z790 Tomahawk wifi DDR5 version. You can also share information about the stability, benefits, and issues of the update here.

A new version of the Bios has been released

Description:
- Updated CPU uCode.
- Updated Secure Boot mechanism.
- Updated OC Auto rules.
- P-core Beyond 6GHz+ feature optimized with i9 CPU.
- Intel APO function optimized.

I think the Tomahawk DDR5 is the only Z790 board which didn’t get a stable Version of the 0x12F Bios yet. Anyone know a reason for that? The Tomahawk DDR4 get the new Bios 2 weeks ago. Hope the developers won’t forget the DDR5 Version…

Someone said the beta itself is the final for all intents and purposes, did anyone try it? Is it stable.?

Looks like all other Z790 boards already got an updated bios. Only MSI MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK WIFI (DDR5) is not updated yet? Hope the developers are doing something.

Tried the new bios - no issues so far. I was on the beta for about a month and also no issues. This one seems like a close variant of the beta with a couple of added bug fixes.

Reapplying my bios settings was easy and the install went through quickly.

I had to reapply my Windows pin, but this is usual behaviour for bios updates recently.

Just the update. It started happening about a year ago.

I have to use my Microsoft login to get access to my account, then I can set a pin. I assumed it was to do with TPM or something like that.

How strange mine is Win 11 pro from a clean install (new PC) and I've done nothing in the bios other than make the changes in Citay's thread.
I'm no expert by a long way but I guess it could be a Windows thing rather than Bios that is only being tripped on BIOS change.

Windows PINs are reset after a BIOS update because the update resets or reconfigures the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) or fTPM chip, which stores the PIN's security information.

I'm not saying it's one way or the other just stating a fact that it's not done it to me after about 6 bios updates. it may well happen in the future, but I'm guessing there is more to it than a BIOS update otherwise we'd all have to do it.

Bios: 7D91vHH / 2025-08-29 (cpu-z - H.H0)

Instead MSI logo is blank, white screen, and default settings on everything..
Not a single chance to enter bios.
Windows 11 starting properly.

I think thats something to do with Fast Boot. I have MSI fast boot turned off in the BIOS. to get in there now you'll have to go into windows and hold the Shift key and select Restart from the power menu, then navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > UEFI Firmware Settings > Restart
that should get you into the bios and you can turn off MSI fast boot.

I too have the same issue on z790 tomahawk ddr5 with that bios. White screen in bios after update. Can't change anything settings as the screen is white. GPU gtx 970
I flashed the bios back to the previous beta bios and don't have the issue, but in doing so has deactivated my win11

If you have a GTX 970 or other Nvidia card, you might want to try updating the NVIDIA Graphics Firmware if you haven't already.
