Black screen when attempting to enter BIOS (MSI B840M-B / W11)

Hello everyone,
I finished building my PC yesterday. On the first boot, it went straight into the BIOS as expected. I performed an M-Flash update to the latest version (7E76v2A24) and then successfully installed Windows 11.
However, I am now having trouble accessing the BIOS. When I restart and spam DEL or F2, the PC often hangs on a black screen and fails to boot into either the BIOS or Windows. Other times, it simply ignores the input and boots straight into Windows 11.

BIOS observations:

  • When I first accessed the BIOS, the Boot tab options were very limited. I could only change:
    • NumLock state
    • MSI Logo display
    • Boot Priority (my SSD was already set as the first option)
  • There was also a “Post Beep” option, which I left Disabled.
  • I disabled the MSI Logo to see if it would help. After that, the Windows logo appears during boot instead of the MSI logo, and no BIOS prompts (such as “Press DEL to enter Setup”) are shown.

What I have tried so far:

  • Switched between wireless and wired keyboards
  • Tried all HDMI and DisplayPort outputs on the GPU
  • Tried different displays:
    • Main monitor: 200 Hz
    • A TV
    • An older 60 Hz monitor
  • Disabled Fast Startup in Windows 11 power settings
  • Attempted to enter the BIOS via Advanced Startup → UEFI Firmware Settings
  • Updated all available drivers using Windows Device Manager (ADM)

Results:

The Advanced Startup method worked once, allowing me to enable A-XMP for my RAM. However, after installing some software and restarting, the issue returned. Now, even the Advanced Startup method frequently results in a black screen, forcing me to perform a hard reset.

System specs:

  • Motherboard: MSI B840M-B PRO
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7600
  • RAM: Crucial DDR5 16 GB (2×8 GB), A-XMP enabled
  • Storage: ADATA NVMe SSD 512 GB
  • BIOS version: 7E76v2A24
  • OS: Windows 11

Update: on another forum a member suggest to unplug the dGPU and see if was possible to acess the BIOS. I did it and without the RX 7600 it's able to acess BIOS. Anyone know what is causing this issue?

Current Status:I have followed the official MSI Support recommendations and updated the BIOS to the latest version available: 7E76v2A26 (Release Date: 2026-01-26). I also performed a full physical Clear CMOS (battery removal).

  1. Display restored but keys ignored: After the Clear CMOS and update, the MSI Logo now appears on the screen for a significant amount of time during boot. However, the motherboard completely ignores the "Delete" or "F11" keys. It simply proceeds to boot Windows 11 regardless of how many times the keys are pressed.
  2. Missing BIOS Options: I can still only access the BIOS through Windows 11 "Advanced Startup." Once inside the v26 BIOS (Advanced Mode), I noticed that critical settings are missing compared to previous MSI generations:
    • Setup Prompt Timeout: Not found under the Boot tab.
    • Fast Boot / MSI Fast Boot: Not found under Windows OS Configuration.
    • USB Legacy Support: Missing from the USB Configuration menu.
  3. Hardware used: I am using the rear USB 2.0 ports (black) for the keyboard to ensure maximum compatibility, but the handshake between the keyboard and the BIOS during POST seems to be failing or non-existent.
  4. GPU Firmware: I have reached out to XFX regarding a potential UEFI/GOP firmware update for the RX 7600, as MSI suggested this might be a handshake issue with the card. Still awaiting their response.
Questions for the community:
  • Is anyone else using the PRO B840M-B on v26 BIOS seeing these missing options (Timeout/Fast Boot)?
  • Is there a specific "Expert" toggle or a new sub-menu in the Click BIOS X interface where these have been moved?
  • Could this be a specific compatibility issue between the Ryzen 5 7600 (iGPU) and the RX 7600 during the handover of the video signal at POST?
Any further insights would be greatly appreciated. Standard BIOS access is critical for system maintenance, and relying on Windows to enter UEFI is not a viable long-term solution.

I don't have a B840 MB. As I remembered Fast Boot & MSI Fast Boot options are not available in AMD MB BIOS.
"Setup Prompt Timeout" does not ring a bell, either. Are you comparing them to any Intel MB BIOS?
