My usb drive is working in to Windows, but the name of the USB drive is not shown in to bios.

UEFI is enabled, and booting from that drive doesn't work. I think it would normally show the name of the drive in bios. Not?

Is MemTest86 free or need it to be activated?

Flashing works, it's the bootdevice that doesn't.

Not sure the model of your motherboard.
On my MSI x670e Carbon, there couple of usb boot options. They are different depends on how you create the bootable usb.
As far as I can recall from my memory.
1. USB Key Drive
2. USB Hard Drive
3. USB CD/DVD drive

For example, if your bootable USB falls in "USB Hard Drive" category. If you set "USB Key Drive" boot in the bios. BIOS, will not see your drive.

PS: MemTest86 is free, and it should work with UEFI.

I have those two. I thought it was USB hard drive. But I all try them... I now preforming a non quick format and try it again. I had before a win10 boot iso on that thumb drive, maybe that's the reason. If it not works yet, I will try dos.

Don't ever change the boot order in the BIOS, press F11 during POST for the boot menu instead.

Yes, but i never use it. I haven't changed the boot order on a motherboard in a decade or so, i always use the boot menu. With an UEFI BIOS, Windows can add itself to the boot order (as Windows Boot Manager), and everything else you press the key for the boot menu so you don't have to change things twice in the BIOS.

Note that the USB writing tool of Memtest86 Free will create two partitions on the USB stick, one for a BIOS in UEFI mode to boot from, and one for an older BIOS or a modern BIOS in CSM/Legacy mode. You have to boot from the first partition. So if you can't press F11 during POST, you need to add the first partition as the boot target somehow, and this could probably be done under "UEFI HDD BBS Priorities", where Windows Boot Manager is also found. As i said, haven't tried it myself, i use the boot menu exclusively. But the UEFI boot entries are not drives as such, they are bootloaders.

Yes, I noticed that too. I understand you worry. Two partitions... Didn't see that. I think I need to connect my old keyboard.

I think the other partition is in ext format, Windows can't read it. You will see once you are able to press F11 that there will be two boot entries from the USB stick.

Oh yeah, something like MBR and the bootloader that says how to read it.🍻

The F functions are software on my microsoft keyboard. Even mouses need software these days to work completly. Only drivers is not engough. I tried boot on numlock, but it didn't work. It strange even after changing the boot priority doesn't work. I think there is something wrong the bootloader, because clonezilla dit work before, but after that I had some problems with the LSA. Think secure boot is also related to that. I have t say it's the first time I using memtest86, don't close that path...

But there where some issues with the secure boot In .H0, I just flash my bios to .H5 and took no further precautions. But as I sad I had also issues with MS and the LSA de day after loading bootloader clonezilla.

Third-party authentication module – If a third-party authentication module is required, such as in the case of a Smart Card Reader for example, you should make sure that they meet the requirements that are listed here: Protected process requirements for plug-ins or drivers. Basically, the module must be digitally signed with a Microsoft signature and it must comply with the Microsoft Security Development Lifecycle (SDL). The documentation also contains some instructions on how to set up an Audit Policy prior to the rollout phase to determine whether such module would be blocked if RunAsPPL were enabled.

Secure Boot – If Secure Boot is enabled, which is usually the case with modern laptops for example, there is one important thing to be aware of. When RunAsPPL is enabled, the setting is stored in the firmware, in a UEFI variable. This means that, once the registry key is set and the machine has rebooted, deleting the newly added registry value will have no effect and RunAsPPL will remain enabled. If you want to disable the protection, you have to follow the procedure provided by Microsoft here: To disable LSA protection.

source: https://itm4n.github.io/lsass-runasppl/

Seems that the LSA is an authentication processes to prevent changing user files with admin privileges.

In the user manual of memtest86 found this.

Display PASS message box in yellow (instead of green) on test completion if corrected ECC errors were
detected

I don't get this message and the complete doesn't turn green on my 22H2.

What, 22H2? Memtest86 doesn't care what OS is on the drive. It boots its own thing, and the PASS message is what you get after 3 complete passes or so.

No not that. When creating the drive (image complete) doesn't turn green. So it guessing now what is going on, but I would not be surprised something is blocking it.

Hah yeah, Memtest 4 is 9 years old... prolly doesn't work as a boot drive unless you set your BIOS to CSM mode (which i don't advise).
