Can DDR5 RAM be overclocked to 5,600MHz with Ryzen 7 8700F CPU?

Hello Friends,
My new MSI B650M motherboard is up and running.
It is equipped with a pair of Crucial (Micron chips) 5,200MHz or 5,600MHz DDR5 RAM, CPU Ryzen 7 8700F.
When I turn on the board, RAM is default to 5,200MHz. I set EXPO to Profile #2. RAM clock is still 5,200MHz.

Do you think whether they are still compatible if I set the RAM clock to EXPO Profile #1 5,600MHz?

I am very scared. DDR5 RAM is super expensive right now.

5600MT/s is not a problem. What is Micro 5200/5600Mt/s RAM? different kit? If it's ram stick from same kit, better not use it together.

My RAM has 2 EXPO profiles:
#1 5600MHz
#2 5200MHz

If those are for 1.1V they are fake EXPO profiles and your CPU is limited to 5200 for 1.1V.

Max Memory Speed
2x1R : DDR5-5200
2x2R : DDR5-5200
4x1R : DDR5-3600
4x2R : DDR5-3600

You can use CPU-Z ( https://www2.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html ), take a screenshot of the SPD tab and post it here.
In any case, your CPU IMC needs more than 1.1V for any memory speed above 5200.
So if those memory modules are 5600 native (5600 at 1.1V), you need to boost a little bit the CPU IMC related voltages.
1.15 ... 1.20V should be more than enough for 5600.

Friends,
Will 5600MT/s burn my RAM? Nowadays, DDR5 RAM are luxury things. I have no more budget to buy new.

As I expected, they have fake EXPO/XMP profiles.
In other words, they are 5600 native (5600 at 1.1V).
It's 100% safe to use the 5600 profile.
If your processor has stability issues with 5600 at only 1.1V, you need a bit of voltage boost (1.15 ... 1.20V).
That voltage boost is also 100% safe.
good luck
You are correct, friend.
It seems that my new computer is running very comfortably at RAM clock 5600MT/s. CPU temperature is higher than that of RAM clock 5200MT/s. It is completely acceptable in winter.

Thanks for your valuable experience.:biggrin:

Friend,
Ryzen 8700F official document said that it supported RAM up to Max Memory Speed:
2x1R DDR5-5200
2x2R DDR5-5200

How come it turns out to support DDR5 5600 in my set up?

DDR5-5200 is the native memory speed for Ryzen 7XXX and 8XXX (your CPU).
DDR5-5600 is the native memory speed for Ryzen 9XXX.
99% of the Ryzen 7XXX and 8XXX CPUs are capable to run stable DDR5-5600.
Depending on CPU sample and memory timings, some of them need a bit of voltage boost (>1.1V) to run 5600 stable.
In any case, as I said before, 5600 is a 100% safe speed for your CPU.
good luck
