Hey, this issue you are presented with affects thousands of PC users. We are deep into the 21st century, yet we keep losing more and more options for 5.1/7.1 channel audio from our PCs, as well as the ability to watch Blu-ray movies. It’s one of the most infuriating things about the PC industry. They basically took the “multi” out of multimedia. But hey, if you love sitting in front of your PC while playing games and wearing headphones, boy do we have you covered, mate!
Bottom line: You can only do what you are trying to do if you set up a dual monitor environment (with one physical monitor) and then try to keep your mouse cursor on the one video screen. There is no option in Windows or the Nvidia Control Panel to do audio-only out via HDMI, which is something my dual-HDMI port Blu-ray player could do in 2010.
Your other option is to use a TV instead of a monitor and hope that the eARC passthrough works. I would check the soundbar manual for how you would connect the video+audio source (your PC in this case) and the soundbar to the TV.
If anyone has a better idea (that doesn’t involve analog audio) then I’m all ears.
