Can you update BIOS on CPU that's not initially supported?

I bought a 14th gen Intel CPU, and the MSI B760I EDGE mobo. The site says it supports 14th gen but the box only says 12 & 13. I don't have all my parts in to confirm if the CPU works, but if the mobo does indeed the BIOS to be flashed for the newer CPU to work, can you flash the BIOS on the initially unsupported CPU, or do you have to use a supported CPU?

I assume your board model is the MSI MPG B760I Edge WIFI?
This requires the latest BIOS from https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MPG-B760I-EDGE-WIFI/support

There's a very high chance it doesn't have that BIOS on there yet, because from the time the board leaves the factory in China/Taiwan until you have it at home, a good two months or more can pass, easily. Plus they don't immediately use the newest BIOS in the factory to begin with.

Sadly, there are no mini-ATX-sized boards from MSI that have a Flash BIOS Button. So you will need an already supported CPU (Celeron G6900 would be the cheapest one) to update the BIOS to the latest version with, or maybe ask some PC shop in the area if they could help you out with the BIOS update for a small fee (they will have to do the same).

Update how-to:
1) Get the latest BIOS. It's the topmost one on the MSI support page for your board.
2) Extract the file and you will get a text file and the BIOS file. Put the BIOS file into the root folder of a USB stick/drive.
3) Enter the BIOS by pressing DEL during boot, go to "M-FLASH" in the BIOS.
4) Once M-Flash (the updater) is loaded, it will show a list of your drives. Select the USB stick and select the previously extracted BIOS file on there.
5) It will ask for confirmation and then update the BIOS. It's fully automatic from there, takes about two minutes.

Once the BIOS is updated using the temporary CPU, then you can install the 14th gen, and if there's no other problem, it should now work like a charm.
