Hi,
I'm having a lot of issues with entering BIOS on my MSI Claw Handheld,
When I first received it, (Used but in full working condition)
It would enter the BIOS when i pressed the correct buttons and I know how to enter the BIOS and all, but it seems that the ONLY OS I can install and have the screen even show up is catchy OS??
Nothing Else Just Catchy OS though.. (Which really is strange that it's the only OS i can install but I prefer Windows though)
But to install windows I know that I need to get into the BIOS.

ANY help is very much needed!

Thank You! :)

If you need to install Windows, I would recommend connect and external keyboard and hub first.
Create a Windows 11 media creation tool first, and press F11 while booting the device to enter the boot menu, select the media creation tool disk and install Windows.

Hello and Thanks for your time,
But unfortunately i already know about all of this i just can't enter the BIOS as i stated.
Thanks again though! :)
The main problem (and a weird one at that) is that the only OS i can install is a linux Distro for some reason..
Won't even let me TOUCH windows when i try to install it..
I even have a Hub, keyboard and dock and have tried unplugging everything too..
I'll try again today.

Ok,
I think I'm able to enter the BIOS even though there is no picture on my screen.
but when i use that linux OS it brings up perfectly on the screen? (but no BIOS either though)

I don't get it at all? lol

Quite weird that you cannot see the BIOS system on the screen, but it is able to show the OS on the screen.
Maybe you would need to send it in for further checking.

EXACTLY!
I have no idea how to fix this?
My assumption is that it is in CSM mode and cannot get out of it.

I can't send it in either it came with no warranty. :/

As far as I understand you have installed linux and bios has crashed and you cannot go back to windows. For this reason hubs are causing problems. You should use single direct type c portable ssd or otg flash memory. You should do a hidden bios recovery for bios. MSI usually keeps this issue secret. Secret bios can be opened by pressing certain keys on the keyboard. It includes certain fast charging, disabling vmd and many features found on msi laptops. If you make a mistake here, the device will not open and will go dead. For this reason, msi has installed a dual bios system on the motherboard. MSI supports dual bios. For this, first turn off the device. Connect otg and flash memory or portable hdd. Hold down the shutdown button and do not release it. After a while, the charging light will flash white. Then press the power button together with the gamepad, I say r1 and r2 at the same time. In other words, the bios entry button will open by shaking. Do not release the bios keys. It will open again and bring you to the bios screen. First, reset the bios. Before exiting, select the flash memory or type c otg hdd from uefi. Windows Put the VMD Rapid Storage F6 driver in the installation beforehand. Install it during the installation. It will see the hard disk afterwards. Complete the installation.

Also if you want high fps and more stable power saving in stable fast games you can install windows 10 msi claw supports windows 10 h2 without any problems the latest windows 10 version is a must the display card driver requires windows 10 h2 otherwise it will not be installed this will give you up to 3.5 hours of power saving depending on the game or 1.5 hours of more powerful extreme game playing

If you did not delete the hard disk recovery partition during the installation, you can choose MSI factory reset recovery or Windows install without using OTG or flash memory. It will install Windows 11 h24 over wifi. If the recovery partition is deleted, it will give an error.

Did not know this! Thanks again!

However I can only get a Linux distro working on this machine somehow?

That’s my ultimate goal with this machine is to just put windows on it.

Sorry but I may need help with flashing too as i'm new to this particular system and REALLY don't want to screw it up. :)

STILL CANNOT enter the BIOS! :lmao:
I actually kinda believe that i am in it because with a keyboard I can do ctrl alt delete and it resets like in the BIOS..
But there's no picture at all.
and yes i have SCOURED the internet for all ways on MSI boards to enter the BIOS.. (delete key, f2, etc.)
I need some pointers on how to at least "i guess bypass is the word?" and install windows 10/11 on this thing with Rufus
step by step please anybody i'm desperate at this point as i am NOT a linux person that much.

Thank you.

Reset the BIOS

To do so, unplug the Power supply and hold down the power button on CLAW for at least 30 seconds device should power off and will not power back on if it has done a reset.
You will need to connect to the Power Supply to be able to turn it back on

hi!
Done that already too. :/

about 100 times..

Thank you for chiming in though friend!

I will TRY and use Ventoy to install windows..
using DISKPART now on my pc to totally wipe a compatible SSD for it and use ventoy with multiple installations hopefully it will show 1??
Thank you :)

Edit:
Doesn't show notta 1....

Back to the drawing board.. whatever that may be.

well,
one of the distro's that i copy/pasted was recognized...guess which one??? cachy OS.. :lmao: outta 10 of them!

guess that's something..
edit:
think what i'm going to do is remove cachy os and see what loads next and repeat it with another OS...i guess.

I am following the topic. I think that Cachy OS is preventing you from entering the BIOS. Remove the SSD of the device. Install portable Windows 11 with the help of a PC. Make sure that it is set to GPT and UEFI. Windows to USB will do the job. Then plug the SSD into the console. The console will open as Windows and try to update the BIOS. It will recognize it and install it.

MSI does not provide support for the products it produces, even now I regret buying MSI Claw. While ROG ALY's joystick spare parts are available, MSI's spare parts are not available anywhere and I am wondering what I will do if the joysticks break down. For this reason I decided to sell the device. They could not even assign simple control keys. They do not even care about software support. I wrote so much. This is a Windows console, it should have key assignments for its controls. Why buy it if I cannot play it? They did not even deign to write an answer.
