Can't get monitor to look for HDMI input

I recently built my first PC and am using an Optix G241 monitor and whenever I turn it on it shows the msi logo, goes to black and then says no DP: No Signal. This makes me assume that it's look for a display port cable, however I'm using an HDMI cable. I also noticed a red plastic button on the back which I assumed would toggle the input but when I tried pressing or holding the button it didn't seem to do anything. I've tried every combination of port swaps on the tower and monitor but I can't make it swap to an HDMI input. How do I make the monitor receive input via HDMI?

1.Please just connect one HDMI on G241. Don't connect DP cable at the same time.
2.Please press power button on G241 and check G241 is ON. It will be showed "no signal" this moment. Because still not signal form system.
3.Please press power button on your system after turn on G241.

Please refer manual on page 2-3 for switching input source.

I'm having the exact same problem, received my monitor today, Optix MAG301CR... My work laptop connects just fine via HDMI but my gaming PC never connects. Is there a driver that is needed?
OP Please reply if you were able to get it working.

Thank you!

Please just connect your gaming PC for checking.

I am having this same problem. i moved my monitor from a computer using HDMI to a computer using DP and i can't switch the input. it's "stuck" on HDMI and won't switch to DP. The OSD doesn't work either; the monitor just goes to sleep because it doesn't detect an input on HDMI.

Any solution to this? My monitor worked just fine on my PC at home. I was using Display Port.

I brought my monitor into work and now it's doing exactly what you described above. If you find a solution, PLEASE post it.

Thanks

I disconnected the DP cable from the monitor (my input was stuck on HDMI) rebooted my laptop, then plugged in the DP and the monitor was then able to recognize a signal on that cable and automatically switched to DP.

I am having the same issue (I think):
Monitor was connected to PC -display port, then used as an extra display for iMac using hdmi. The monitor started going black (still on, showing black) after ~an hour of use on the iMac laptop. Then when plugged back into PC with DP it gets the signal for like 1 second before showing a black screen again. Help!
