I have an MSI Desktop Computer "Cubi 5 12M-202US" running Windows 11 Professional. I would like for the computer to remain up ALWAYS unless I shut it down. So far, in the "Settings\System\Power & battery", I have...
  • 1 - Set "On battery power, put my device to sleep after Never"
  • 2 - Set "When plugged in, put my device to sleep after Never"
  • 3 - Changed registry key value for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\"some key don't remember which one" from 1 to 2
  • After all of this, the computer still goes to sleep after some period of time. By goes to sleep I mean that I am having to press the power button to wake the computer back up and turn on. Any suggestions?

Maybe you have edited the wrong power profile? Can you double check the active power profile?

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by "wrong power profile". There is a single user account on the computer. Logged in as that user, I go to "Settings\System\Power & battery\Screen and sleep" and select my options; there is no mention of a "profile". There is a "Power mode" (Best effiency/Balanced/Best performance) but the "Screen and sleep" settings are independent of the "Power mode". Can you tell me where the "profile" that you are talking about is?

selected profile, maybe you edited some other profile that currently is not in use.

Sorry for the delay as I haven't been back to the computer until late last week, but thanks for the suggestion! I didn't think to look at the old power plans through the control panel, and although the settings there matched the settings in the Windows 11 Settings (using the "Balanced" plan), I did find another Sleep setting under Advanced Settings there. After changing that value the computer is now staying awake.

I've now noticed a couple of different "Settings" in the Windows 11 Settings UI that seem to not work or simply aren't available, forcing me back to the old Control Panel.
