Hi all,

I have just got the MSI Sword 16HX 14700HX laptop with the 4060. I want to undervolt the CPU and am using throttlestop to do so. I have double checked the guides etc for throttlestop and I am trying to put any amount of undervolt on (-50mv or similar) just to make sure it is working before doing some further testing.

To unlock the undervolt I have gone into the hidden bios and disable virtualisation, vt-d disabled, enabled overclocking, and disabled undervolt protection. This allows me to offset the voltage in throttlestop, but when I click apply/okay (even with the ok-save voltages immediately checked) it doesn't do anything. I have offset the cache for p cores and e cores and the CPU equally.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threads/a-few-questions.387323/post-2201575 try to disable overclocking lock and im not 100% sure but i believe you dont need to disable undervolt protection.
Thank you, I have looked at the link, overclocking lock was already disabled, cfg lock was enabled so I have disabled that, and I have tested with/without undervolt protection and still no luck (yet), I'll continue to see if I can find anything, can't think what I'm missing 🤔

Intel has disabled undervolting on all 12th Gen CPU and above and MSI seems to have modified all 14th Gen BIOS even the HX, because of the new microcode issue.
You might need to disable VBS (Virtualization Based Security) in your system.

If you are looking for an alternative way to reduce voltage and Bypass the blockage.
I sent you a PM!

disabled undervolt protection
The top middle of the ThrottleStop FIVR window shows that Undervolt Protection is still enabled. If there is a BIOS option to control this, it is not working correctly.

If you want to test that ThrottleStop is working, try setting a small positive offset value like +5 mV. That will show up in the FIVR monitoring table immediately after you press the Apply button. Only negative offset values get blocked when Undervolt Protection is enabled.

Thank you, I have tried with it on and off, but from what I have been told it might not be possible to underclock the 14700hx as it is already nearer it's limit than usual and is locked by Intel. Thank you though 👍

did you try to undervolt in bios? is that also not working?
