I have a K7T266 Pro2-RU motherboard runing bios version 3.6. I am trying to set up a striped array. I seem to have that part of it done, but now I cant seem to get my computer to boot from the cd drive to install operating system.

Have you tryed holding down the F-11 key when booting your system? it should bring up a menu that well allow you to choice your cdrom drive for boot. ?(

Hi,

There are three thinks you need to keep in mind for CDbooting.

First, the CDrom must be able to boot....not all are....

Second, you need to change the boot-sequence to CDrom before any harddisk or raid-array...look in the BIOS for this....

Thirth, The CDrom can only be booted from the first CDrom/writer/DVD that the system finds....

BAS

I hate to disagree with you but on my system the only time it well auto boot form cd is if there is no os installed on the hd 2nd I can use either of my cdroms to boot form but if there is a OS installed the only way I can boot form a cd is if I hold down the f-11 key during boot. to bring up the boot menu.

K7T266 PRO2 PCB V2 BIOS 3.6
IDE 0 = HD & ZIP
IDE 1 = CD CDRW & CD DVD

Hi Knac,

I know about the F11 menu, the KT3 has this too.....
But if you set the boot sequence to CDRom, Floppy and then IDE-0 (In the BIOS offcourse)
And you put your bootable CD in your CDRW it should boot it.....

Yea that's I what I thought to BAS it say that in the book that came with my mobo but for some reason no matter how I set it in the bios it well not boot form the cdrom if there is already a OS installed which is ok with me. I don't know if it's a problem with my board or if they design the k7t266 pro2 to function like these.

I noticed know matter how many time's your construction worker hit's the Intel logo it keeps popping back up :D

Hi,

Maybe you need to update the firmware of the CDRW or it's not 100% compatible with ATAPI for some reason.....
Have you tried other CDrom's that can boot????

no there both up to date as far as firmware there both liton's but like I sead if I hold down the f-11 key during boot I can boot form either of them.
