Hi,

I am trying to setup a new machine using a e3m workstation v5 with an XEON E3.

I managed to borrow RAM sticks  from  a Dell workstation using the same CPU.

On this workstation, I can run Memtest indefinitely, it is rock stable.
But if I put these sticks on my bobo, it is not very stable. Sometimes it can work during several hours, sometimes the machine can't even boot completely.

There are Hynix sticks, but I got my best result with Micron presets in the bios.

I had a look at the compatibility list, but almost all references are not sold anymore or not sold anywhere.

Did somebody had success with some peculiar model ? I am looking for a 16GB solution, and why not with ECC as all sticks are too expensive these days :-)

Regards

The RAM from the Dell, were they Dell branded? If so parts made for Dell PCs rarely work properly if at all in other PCs. Corsair, Crucial, Kingston and other well known Brands should work just fine. From what I've seen you will be spending $200-$220 16 GB kit (2 x 8 GB)
