Cloud9 (C9) is a North American eSports organization fielding teams in League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Hearthstone: Heroes of WarCraft, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Heroes of the Storm, Overwatch and HALO. Since its foundation in 2012, Cloud9 has been one of the top contenders across the most competitive games. Jack Etienne, Cloud9 Founder and CEO, has led young talents to claim numerous impressive victories. Cloud9 will face tougher opponents at Worlds, but nothing seems impossible for them now!

Cloud9's League of Legends team is notable for winning two North AmericanLeague Championship Series (LCS) seasons and a top eight finish at the Season 3 World Championship. 2016 NA LCS Spring Season, Cloud9 finished the split in third place with a 12-6 record. However, the team lost to Team SoloMid 3-1 and exited the playoffs.
For LoL fans, the dramatic conclusion to the 2015 NA LCS's gauntlet is still fresh in our memories.

The "Cinderella" run
As a team once on the brink of relegation, Cloud9 managed to qualify for Worlds after defeating their NA rivals then Gravity Gaming, now known as Echo Fox, Team Impulse and Team Liquid in a miraculous gauntlet run, including two reverse-sweeps. Amounting a total of 14 games in three days, Cloud9 eventually notched their third BO5 victory to earn the final NA spot. The against-all-odds run was considered to be one of the most improbable "Cinderella" runs in the game?s history. Unfortunately, the team fell short in their final week and ultimately being knocked out of the World Championship. Yet Cloud9 proved their unparalleled strength as a serious contender and legendary team. According to GosuGamers, Cloud9 LoL team is now ranked the top 3 in North America, and top 19 worldwide (As of April 26, 2016).

Welcome Cloud9 to be part of MSI family! Today we present an interview with Cloud9 Founder and CEO, Jack Etienne, talking about C9's successes and future.
In addition to that, we thrilled to have few words with star players: CS:GO, Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert, Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham and LoL team, Hai "Hai" Du Lam, Zachary "Sneaky" Scuderi and Nicolaj "Jensen" Jensen.

MSI: Hi, Mr. Etienne! Thanks for taking the time for this interview. Let?s start by asking you about the magical run through the 2015 NA Regional Finals gauntlet. How did boys in blue manage to reverse sweep and earn the final spot at the 2015 World Championship? How did you feel about Hai'samazing shotcalling, coupled with standout performances by Jensen?

Jack: Honestly, they wanted it more. We took practice leading up to that weekend very seriously, even though many people counted us out due to our lackluster regular split. I think we fed off that and used it to motivate us all the way through the event, the Korea bootcamp, and leading into Worlds. Jensen stepping up at that time was huge because even though Hai?s shotcalling was on-point, it was still very important that we help get him advantages to work with, and Jensen did that often.

MSI: As an owner of NA's outstanding global e-Sport organization, how did you manage multiple teams, especially the acquisition of Overwatch team and return of Halo team this year?

Jack: I?d like to say I do it alone like when Cloud9 first started up, but nowadays I have a full staff of people supporting myself and the players day-to-day, including a whole management team behind our store, social presence, marketing, video production, and support staff.

MSI: What's the next goal for North America's heavyweight C9 in terms of gameplay and branding? Any thoughts to start your own gaming rigs in the near future?

Jack: We?re going to double down on our efforts to promote our current teams with coaching, and video content creation while continuing to explore new and upcoming esports opportunities in new games. I?d love to see Cloud9 gaming rigs powered by MSI and iBUYPOWER.

MSI:What are the most important features in gaming hardware during your gameplay? And what have you found in MSI products.

Jordan: Having a laptop that can run the game as it's meant to be played is essential for a pro CS player. Settling for me isn't an option, and luckily with the MSI Apache Pro I am not making any compromises.

Skadoodle: CS:GO is very reliant on the CPU, having a top of the line CPU will offer plenty of FPS for us to perform at our maximum level. The MSI Apache Pro not only offers a fantastic CPU for gameplay, but its size and weight also gives us the ability to travel with ease.

MSI: Being a pro player, captain, primary shot caller of Cloud9 LoL, Hai is always considered one of the iconic figures of the North American scene, leading his team to crushing victories. How did you enjoy switching Support/Mid lane/Jungler positions so far? And what are your expectations going into the next LCS season and your plans to lead the team to achieve that?

Hai: I like the different things I've learned from playing the 3 roles. I do miss the previous roles though! I hope with this next season we come back strong, and I need to improve a lot to make that happen, as a player and captain.

MSI: Which LoL team from Taiwan that impressed you most and why?

Sneaky: I haven't found time lately to tune into Taiwan, but we practiced next to and scrimmed again Flash Wolves at Worlds. I can at least say they were impressive 6 months ago. They were also really nice.

MSI: Thanks for all of your time again! Is there anything you?d like to say to your fans?

Hai: Thanks for having our back through thick and thin. We will do our best to perform to the level everyone expects us to.

Sneaky: Thanks everyone for your support; it means a lot to me.

Jensen: Thanks for all the support, I?m sorry we weren?t able to make it to Vegas! :( we'll bounce back!

We hope you enjoyed the read and we wish Cloud9 every success in the future.
