Intel QuickPath Architecture I/O Hub

I keep getting this error, to which Windows directs me to the Intel website to download new chipset drivers....except that I am then told when running the Intel tool that the drivers there are older than the ones I have (I got the latest off the MSI download site).

What's the story? Anyone have any ideas?

Oh..I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit

Hi th3gman & welcome to the forum. In order for the forum users to assist you, we need a better description of 'all' your systems components. Also recommend starting a dialogue with MSI Tech. Support; http://ocss.msi.com.tw for their thoughts on what may be the cause of this issue.

Hello, and thanks.

I've tried tech support...they couldn't seem to understand the issue:

Here is my full component list:
MSI X58 Eclipse SLI
Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition 965
CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (TR3X6G1600C8D)
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty
2 - Western Digital VelociRaptor WD3000HLFS 300GB in RAID 0
1 - Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST31500341AS 1.5TB
LG Black Super Multi Blu-ray Disc Burner & HD DVD-ROM Drive SATA Model GGW-H20L

I think related to the chipset compatibility error...is randomly (I've been unable to find anything that seems to be occurring when it happens), the system will lock up completely (keyboard lights go out and everything).

One thing that you could try is to download the drivers from Intel's website, uninstall the MSI drivers, reboot and then install the downloaded drivers. On Intel's website, make sure that you select "Windows Vista Ultimate x64" for your OS. Intel's website is one of the only sites I know of that specifically calls out the particular version (Home, Home Premium, Ultimate, ect). I'm not sure that it make a difference, but it might.

You shouldn't be getting that error. Try this 6/2/08 driver from intel web site instead of the one from MSI site:

Intel X58 Express Chipset Software Installation Utility

Your "full component list" isn't exactly full, you failed to list what video card and your PSU & it's specs. Those can have something to do with your lock up problems.

Sorry, my video cards are EVGA GTX 280s running the latest drivers, and my PSU is a Thermaltake ToughPower 1000-watt...neither of which are causing the issue. This is directly related to the chipset drivers from the MSI site.

I will attempt to uninstall them and install the older drivers from the Intel site.
