Hi everyone,
I’m planning to use an Intel D7-P5510 3.84TB U.2 NVMe SSD in a system with the MSI PRO Z790-A MAX WIFI motherboard. Since this SSD uses a U.2 (SFF-8639) interface, I’m considering using a GLOTRENDS PU11 PCIe 4.0 x4 to U.2 adapter or StarTech Adapter U.2 to PCIe - x4 PCIe

I would really appreciate your feedback on the following:
I won’t be booting from this SSD—just using it as a high-performance data drive.
Thanks in advance for any insights or recommendations!
Best regards,
Gabriel

I would really appreciate your feedback on the following:
- Will this motherboard properly detect and work with the SSD using this type of adapter?
- Is there any specific PCIe slot I should use on the Z790-A MAX for best compatibility?
- Has anyone successfully used this or another U.2 to PCIe adapter with this board?
- Are there any better alternatives to the PU11 adapter that are known to work well with MSI boards?
I won’t be booting from this SSD—just using it as a high-performance data drive.
Thanks in advance for any insights or recommendations!
Best regards,
Gabriel
