At first I was terrified when I opened the Purple Champion Edition Msi box because I thought I had received the 4600-TD. Though, the box and video card all state VTD and the card has the tv_out/video in connector. So obviously it seems as though both the 4600's now have the purple PCB's. Who else has one, just to make sure?

I was expecting to see a red and black Msi colored box with a green pcb 4600 VTD.

Is there any difference between this purple 4600 VTD and the green 4600 VTD besides the box and pcb colors?
Purple VTD
Green VTD

My main question is, why would I receive a purple pcb 4600-VTD in a purple and black "Champion Edition" box while everyone else is getting a green pcb 4600-VTD version in a red and black box?

I haven't noticed any news of a "New 4600-VTD Purple PCB Edition" announcement on MSI's website. Hmm...

the championship edition is made for overclocking, they build them to tolerate the strain of overclocking better, i have the green PCB and black n' red box, personally i wanted the Purple PCB edition but it's not available to my knowledge in the U.K. :( if you've got it excellent enjoy the 4800Ti performance when overclocked(fictional hardware) :D

Well after overclocking the card last night I've decided that I'm going to keep it. I went from 300/662 to 336/750 stock cooling. I could easily hit 350/765 with some tweakmonster copper ramsinks and a cooljag 313 HSF.

I didn't really test performance. Since I haven't finished building my Pentium 4 monster, I had to use my friend's outdated AMD athlon 900 mhz, KT133 chipset computer. I didn't really keep track of the performance increase with Oc'ing. I just tested to make sure the overclock could handle the looped demo with 4xAA. On his computer I hit around 5180. Thats 50 points more than my Geforce 2 PRO score I had over a year ago.

With my Pentium system I'll be able to hit 15,000. Heres the main specs:

Pentium 2.53
Asus P4B533-E
Msi GF4 Ti 4600-VTD
Corsair XMS DDR400 Cas 2
Windows XP Prof.
Maxtor 40GB ATA 133

i can achieve about 11,000 which in my opinion is pretty sweet as pentiums will always beat AMD's in 3dMark no idea why....

anyways nice system, hope you enjoy it

I personally run at stock speeds, I have noticed that with overclocking the performance increase isn't exactly great especially for the clock speed you have to run at

315/690 is the fastest i've gone, due to my fear of destroying the poor thing, i didn't benchmark it either a bit dumb really, but from just playing a few games i.e UT2003, Battlefield 1942 and so on i didn't see much improvement 2-5FPS gain i think, i was personally looking for about 15-20 FPS more

o i benchmarked myself again last night stock, i was right my score in 3dmark2001se was 10,787, i did get it upto 10,946 somehow, trying to work it out right now:P
