In Core Center and in the Bios, it is displaying my system temp as 50c.. now, I can tell you now that is not right. It barely moves from that range either.. if it does, itll go to like 49c or 51, but thats it. This just started happening, before it would display correctly at around 30c.

Also, its saying my computer is running at 51c..idle, and 51c under load.. so i really do not know what to think.

My case has a built in thermometer.. which is reading around 86f(30c), which is normal.

Any ideas?

As for the ram.... How much of a performance gain would I get by getting faster ram (pc3200).. Right now I have 1.3gb of pc2100, which is a lot of ram, but at a slow speed. And, whats the best to go with in the $100 range. I know how A64's are picky with the ram they use.. so I have ruled out Corsair, since so many people have problems.
My friend let me use 512mb pc3200 Xerox (???)... And when using it, my pc is highly unstable... BSOD's when doing just about anything. Id really like to get my ram issue solved as well as the temp issue.

Athlon 64 3000+
Msi Neo-Fsr
Sapphire 9800 Pro 128mb
Enermax 350w 12v/26a
1.3Gb pc2100 (it sucks)

Hi AxiOn,

Glad I could help with the lights. Looks nice with the lights off at night! :-D)

I guess AA is anti-aliasing and AF is anisotopic filtering? I have the Omega 2.5.22 drivers which I understand should be already optimized. I have "application preference" checked for both under the Open GL and Direct 3D tabs in the Catalyst Control Panel. If I uncheck them I have to choose the X speed.

I have everything on this system, BIOS and Catalyst, pretty much at defaults since I'm really not a tinkerer. The only changes I have made myself is turning off the AC3 since I have an Audigy, and disabling the on board network and unused SATA to speed up booting. :baby:

Have any suggestions?

No, Looks fine. Now that i think about it your score is pretty normal. Different drivers can make a difference in the scores, a noticable one at that. I think when i run the omegas its slightly lower, but thats not to say the drivers suck.

I followed Sab's advice, changed my setting from Turbo to Fast and reinstalled Core Center and I went from 40's and 50's to 30's!

Core Center is ~Bogus~ :bonk:

onnightfall....

You're welcome! I'm just sharing stuff I learn on my own with this new 64 proc.
- the MSI K8T and drivers/utilities. I am confident that a lot of the problems we're having is a combination of newer technology and old fashioned impatience!

Sab

Wierd.. I turned my system on Turbo.. and the cpu temp dropped about 8c.. dont ask me.

I think Cool'n'Quiet is actually working, whereas i dont think it was before.

I noticed the memory modules you are using and want you to know that if you mix a variety of PC2100, 2700 or 3200 - the memory usually will run at the slowest module you have. In other words - try to run PC2700 throughout the dimm slots - you might notice some difference!

Sab,

The 1 Gig stick of pc2700 I have is faulty. As in.. it doesnt work unless paired with the ram its paired with. If i do use it, the system is extremely unstable. And, In more than 1 system, it wont even get past the post with it in. So.. i lucked out and it actually works when paired with the 256mb of pc2100.

Or else i would run it by itself...
