Hi, I'm another owner of a motherboard with a stuck sensor

I will not write the details, as everything has already been described on this forum and Reddit:

System:
MSI X870E TOMAHAWK WIFI
AMD 9950x3D
Arctic Liquid Freezer III 420
PCCooler YS1200
GeForce RTX 5070 Ti

If you have solved the problem with the sensor, please share the solution in this topic

I’ve lost hope, there are too many variables, and I don’t want to lose my mind over it for nothing, especially since it’s clearly a software bug and we just have to wait for them to fix it. I’m very confident about the next BIOS with AGESA 1.3 as well, because it will be the first truly mature BIOS. The PC works perfectly fine, apart from the annoyance of having to shut it down every now and then using the power button.

Well I removed the intel optane memory from m.2 slot 1 and put the 970 evo there and took the pci device from the 2nd slot and put it to the 3rd and i'm clean installing now but yeah, hopefully AGESA 1.3 is the solution!

Since removing an intel optane nvme from m.2 1 and putting the 970 evo in there, changing the device that was in pcie slot 2 to slot 3 and reinstalling windows 11 and formatting the drive in the windows 11 installation media the stress tests haven't broken, I did redownload Aida64 for the sensor panel. So maybe it still drops to 0w at some point and the cpu may freeze but for now it's working perfect. The OCCT test and Aida64 used to crash within 15 mins and it's fine stressing for 1 hour thus far.

I've also come to realise that PCIE 1 & PCIE 2 are connected to the CPU according to the manual and PCIE 3 is connected to the chipset.

I pray that this was the reason 🙏

Have you had another pcie device in the 2nd pcie lane by any chance? Maybe we just need the BIOS update to fix it.

I got to 2 hours and it dropped to 0w on aida64 but I could shutdown normally this time which is weird? I also had a -25 undervolt on.

I'm doing it again with no undervolts.

Don't lose your mind, you cannot fix it
Is my cpu safe on the motherboard though? It runs perfect just when you shutdown nornally everything stays active unless you hold button or cut power. Is it conflicting with the software tools because I didn't notice it getting frozen on the led before I installed them telemetry tools.

I may have damaged the cables, maybe audio connector when snipping old cable ties for the new build and it might be short circuiting.

You haven’t damaged anything at all, thousands (if not all) owners of this motherboard + AMD processor have this issue. The shutdown procedure completes correctly except for the final step, when the motherboard performs a sensor check and fails to proceed, so it doesn’t cut power.

Do you use both CPU cables too? I only use 1 but I would of expected it to not make a difference, I might send it back to Argos and get a different one.

I tried with 1 and 2 cables. No difference
I'm losing faith and it's annoying me, I've unplugged all the devices at the back except dp and ethernet and i'm running a test it's good but for sure it will do it again, if I can go 3 hours then power cut the switch leave for an hour then do a cold boot 3 hour test and it passes I may have a bad usb. I ordered an 8 pin eps and an 8 pin pcie connector for the extra motherboard power to see if that helps but if it doesn't i'm going to send it back to Argos and get a different one.

So I finished installing and haven't reinstalled windows just kept default windows 11 and BIOS (enabled EXPO) on new ROG B850-f and I'm 30 mins in to a stress test, I have lower temps on both CPU and Mobo and still no 0w cpu package power. But my motherboard says 31 Celsius and haven't seen it go up or down.

Update: I seen my new mobo temp go to 32 🫡
It’s quite unlikely, if not impossible, that you have that issue. Different hardware and different BIOS. I don’t think it’s worth spending 300 euros to fix this bug for me. If it happens, I just shut it down using the power button and that’s fine.

Yeah this one is good but I think it's something to do with the sensor and ez debug maybe it desyncs if it moves too quickly enough for the debug to process.
