Hi, I'm another owner of a motherboard with a stuck sensor

I will not write the details, as everything has already been described on this forum and Reddit:

System:
MSI X870E TOMAHAWK WIFI
AMD 9950x3D
Arctic Liquid Freezer III 420
PCCooler YS1200
GeForce RTX 5070 Ti

If you have solved the problem with the sensor, please share the solution in this topic

hey guys, same issue here.
It can happen that my CPU temperature and the associated CPU fan speed can get stuck under load.
The problem occurs rarely and is difficult to reproduce.
I noticed it recently when I was playing Borderland 4 for a longer period of time and after quitting I noticed that the
value for the CPU temperature was stuck at 75° and also the CPU fan speed. Likewise, the consumption (watts) remains at 0%.
I read the values with "Libre Hardware Monitor".
The problem can only be resolved by rebooting.

I am not alone with this issue and I think the issue can only be resolved with a BIOS update
and I hope is not a hardware issue.

First of all i didn't overclock my system!

Did it appear with the older BIOS version before?
Yes

Have you done any special settings in BIOS?
Onboard WIFI/BT - disabled
HD Audio - disabled
Integrated Graphics - disabled
MSI Driver Utility Installer - disabled
Full Screen Logo display - disabled
M.2_2 Gen Mode - Gen 5
Usb4 M.2_2 Switch - Usb4x2/M.2_2x2
Expo - enabled

Everything else is untouched.

I opened a ticket and support wrote the following in response (26.12.2025):
Thanks for contacting MSI technical support.
Regarding your concern, we are collecting motherboards that can be replicated to analyze this issue. Please wait for us and we will reply you when we get any message about it. Thank you !
Thanks for your cooperation in advance!

Best Regard,
Markus

When did you buy the motherboard?

Today reply

Sorry for the late reply, we are still checking if the issue can be fixed by software, kindly please wait for us. Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience caused you!

MSI support? Were they able to reproduce the bug?
I been talking to them for more than a month, and they are still "looking at it" checking some topics here with people with similar issues, they were asking for their mb so they could see it physically, so apparently its not a software issue, since so far they didnt managed to reproduced it

At this point im just waiting my paycheck to buy a new mobo lol

As a developer, I can tell you that if they said they’re checking whether it can be fixed via software, it means they’ve understood what the problem is and that it’s a software issue, since they think it can be resolved with software. Hardware problems can’t be fixed via software.
They can’t test the boards with every CPU, RAM, etc. configuration out there. It could be caused by a specific component that breaks the software. Also, the bug doesn’t happen all the time, which adds another layer of randomness. In any case, what they said is very positive, they’ve understood what’s happening at the code level and are looking for a solution, even if they haven’t reproduced it. When you can’t reproduce a bug but you know it exists, it’s a nightmare for a developer, you proceed by trial and error, but sooner or later you get to the solution.

Mate...read again, this was my question: " I just wanted to know if this is a bios issue that can be fixed or its a hardware one?" i asked them if they already know if its a hardware or software issue, and they said they are checking IF the problem can be fixed by software, after more than a year of this issue happening, they STILL dont know what it is.

The key word that you are coping to skip is IF

Plus you chose to ignore the fact that they asked people to SEND their motherboards to them in early jan

So, the problem only affects 9000 CPUs, if I'm correct.
I've run several stress tests, including Prime95 for 24 hours (maximum heat and power consumption) and Linpack, and I've never had a problem with a stuck CPU temperature. In my case, the problem only occurs while playing games.

I hope that the problem can be fixed by a BIOS update.

After this? Bios update? Forget it

e!

Today i will try with 9900x on same board, and if the problem persist,i am switching to Gigabyte. No time for this bullshit.

Update:
Yeah, same thing with 9900x....sensor stuck after Cinebench 2026 run...no luck with this board to me.

I already ordered MSI B650 Tomaxawk.....
It's a random problem; odds are, most users won't have any problems

And some of the 600 chipset boards are better than their 800 series updated boards. No USB-4 to make things annoying.

It's even cute since msi knows about this issue for more than a year and they STILL don't know what its causing it 🤡
