The board can be quite picky about which USB sticks it accepts, so try several. FAT32 formatting is a must!
You can format the USB stick as FAT32 non-bootable with the help of https://rufus.ie/en/ (i would use this tool, it has more of chance of working than letting Windows format it).

Updating BIOS with Flash BIOS Button
1. Please download the latest BIOS file that matches your motherboard model from the MSI® website.
2. Rename the BIOS file to MSI.ROM, and save it to the root of your USB flash drive.
3. Connect the power supply to CPU_PWR1 and ATX_PWR1. (No need to install CPU and memory.)
4. Plug the USB flash drive that contains the MSI.ROM file into the Flash BIOS Port on the rear I/O panel.
5. Press the Flash BIOS Button to flash BIOS, and the LED starts flashing.
6. The LED will be turned off when the process is completed.

Thanks a lot for the kind replay, in 5. you said LED starts flashing in my case after I did all the above the LED either ON or OFF after flashing for 5 seconds only.
I believe there is something is not normal?!
thanks

Yes, it either didn't like your USB stick or you did something wong (no FAT32 formatting, MSI.ROM not in the root folder, incorrect BIOS update for the board etc.).

First, i would try a bunch of different USB sticks if you can, each prepared the correct way.

Thank you very much it is working now after few attempts. 🌹🙏🏻🌹

This worked for me! For reference, I have a Z790 EDGE TI MAX and am updating the BIOS before installing a Gen 14 Intel Processor. The first USB stick, a Sandisk cruzer 16 GB (my newest USB storage actually) with MSI.ROM in the root directory led to blinking red light followed by steady red light. I formatted a PNY 8GB stick and tried again: CPU light came on and blinking light continued, and BIOS updated completed without issue. Moral of the story: try multiple USB sticks formatted into FAT32! Good luck

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, i say this all the time, try more USB sticks, the older and smaller, the better. I've read too many success stories to not tell people that again and again. But MSI really have to improve this function so it works more reliably with all kinds of USB sticks!

could you find out why the usb 2.0 worked but not the others?

So far i have not found such a USB model that works for everyone. The best, but also the most annoying method is to randomly try different ones until the board likes one of them.

Yeah, M-Flash will accept pretty much any USB drive you throw at it, it's not comparable to the button. Only the button method is such a hassle.
