D bracket LED's are no show...

So far my PC is this: Case, PSU (550w, +12@25A), MB (K8T Neo), CPU (AMD 64 3400+), sound card (Audigy 2 ZS Plat), 4 case fans and the D bracket that came with the MB. Building it myself, parts from Newegg, the rest of which being delivered this week. Spec's in the sig link.
After I hooked all of it up I wanted to plug the power cord in to see if everything in there works before I finish assembly . When I did so, everything seemed to run fine at least to the extent one could surmise at this stage. All of the fans ran and the front panel light stayed constant. There were 3 long beeps that repeated but I imagine this is to be expected with an incomplete setup. If someone knows what the 3 long beeps every couple of seconds means with this BIOS, please feel free to share.
The thing that bugged me was that the D bracket LED's didn't light up at all. I would have expected something from them, complete PC or not. I hooked it up to the USB and LED connectors specified in the manual. Any ideas on why there was no activity?

Thanks,
Eloora

Well, thankfully, nowadays there aren't too many different ways to hook things up when it comes to PC components. That said, there's only one way to connect the D-bracket to the MB USB and LED connectors, and only two sets of USB connectors to choose from, both of which I tried, and neither of which worked. I'd really like to be able to use the D-bracket for diagnostic purposes since this is the first PC I've built by myself. Any other insight as to why it isn't lighting up the LED's at all would be appreciated.

On a side note, my Mushkin L1 2x512 PC3500's and my Radeon 9800 XT (specs in the sig link) arrived today, so I installed them and then powered the PC on again to see if there was any change. The beeps changed from 3 longer beeps recurring every 5 seconds, to fast beeps one after the other, continuing indefinately untill powering off again. Taking the RAM back out made the fast beeps stop.:undecided:

This is the MSI K8T Neo board....anyone else with this board know anything about the AMI BIOS and beep codes? Should I be alarmed or just wait till I get the HD installed and am able to officially start BIOS setup?

Thanks,
Eloora

Well my baby is finally built, and without too many hitches she managed to get up and running beyond my expectations. Here's a couple of issues I'd like some feedback on however:

The D-bracket LED's still won't come on. I've unhooked and rehooked it to the MB to no avail. Ideas?

When I power on the PC, the screen after the Core Cell screen tells me, after scanning devices, that "No BIOS installed!". What the hell?! Of course there is because I can enter it by pressing Del and change settings and yada yada yada...It's told me this after installing Windows, HD controler drivers and even the Live Update BIOS flash to the latest version. Ideas?

I have no sound. The sound card is installed along with the drivers. I did not install the joystick/MIDI component that came with the sound card set, because I didn't feel it would be needed. I have also not installed the front panel component yet. Let me know if these are somehow pertinent to the sound card's basic function. The sound card is connected to the CD ROM drive via the provided cable. I have tried two sets of speakers in both the onboard and all of the sound card connectors to no avail. I'm up for the most basic of troubleshooting, from the JAUDI jumper settings to the software configurations.

That's about it. Other than these things the system seems solid. No overclocking has been done, nor benchmarks run, but no settings other than default have been made, for those of you with the memory compatability quandry. Help is much appreciated!

Thanks,
Eloora

You have to disable the onboard sound. Check manual for details.

3 beeps means bad or "missing" memory. I believe!

At least one other person has posted that the D-bracket lights don't work... do the USB ports work?

The BIOS message "may" be from the onboard NIC. I can't remember off hand what key combo you use to enter the setup for it. Once you're in there, you can disable it's attempt to boot from a server (unless you have that... just kidding). Hit pause when it pops up (or just before)... Also, go into BIOS and "disable" FULL LOGO... that only covers up the post info.

Check here for a list of mem/CPU configs that other members have said works for them.

Some advice on RAM, AMD 64, and this (and other mobos)... it may not work right away, and it may not work the way you think it should... so don't freak out! There are lots of helpful people here... and we won't turn you away... if... you do freak out!!! :lol_anim:

Hope this helps! Hope I made sense! :-))
