Hi ,

Sorry if this has been answered before , but I know people’s opinion varies on this.
I just bought a msi mag a850l power supply , I have a amd 7700xt which has 2 connectors for power , the power supply comes with a Daisy chain cable to supply power to the gpu, is this ok to use or am I better using 2 separate cables.

The graphic card is not over locked and using msi afterburner is shows the wattage at 249w .
Thanks for any advice , I appreciate 2 cables would probably be better but the Daisy chain cable looks tidier in the building.

do you Mean a MSI MAG A850GL PCI-E 5?

Yes sorry predictive text on , it’s the MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5 , ATX 3.1 READY , PCIE5.1 READY.

its better to use 2 Separate Cables for Stability you may get away with a Single Daisy-chained one but your card is close to the Upper Limit of what that can Handle.

you can give it a try and see how it goes but if you get any Crashing then go to 2 separate Cables.

Thanks for reply , previously it was running a Corsair cv 650 power supply with Daisy chain cable for the last 12 months , but thought 650w was a bit low so upgraded to this msi 850 , it ran fine for the last 12 months on the Daisy chain with the Corsair , but so many people recommend the 2 cables.

Thanks again.

it should work with one but its Borderline. it should be able to handle it its just very Close to the Limit.

usually where all Individual ones are a must is if lets say its a Card that pulls like over 260W then its a you need to use 2 and mainly with NVIDIA Cards as they tend to have massive short Spikes of power Draw where it may be using for 99.99% of the time 240 watts but out of nowhere it will suddenly pull 300+ Watts of power and can make a PSU trip out and go into a Panic and cut all power as it thinks its gone Short Circuit and trips the OCP (Over Current Protection).
