Driver Update Question for New Build

Hey Guys - This is my first time building a system and installing Windows.

I've got a good POST and I'm just wondering whether to update the drivers I see on the MSI download page.

Two of them especially  - the Marvel SATA III driver and the USB 3.0 driver.

The thing is, I don't know how to check what drivers I have now - or even if I can check w/out an OS installed.

I'll be running my boot drive (crucial SSD) off the SATA 3 port, which is the Marvel controller so I'd like it to configure it correctly before I install Windows (if that can be done). I see a reference to a Marvel 88SE91xx Adapter - BIOS version 1.0.0.1013 on the first boot screen. But that's not a driver vers is it?

So - any advice or recommendations you can share with me - I'll be very grateful.

If it doesn't show in the sig line - the board is the Big Bang X-Power.

Thanks!

okay, that's what I needed to know for sure - I thought maybe hardware drivers could be updated somehow...

Thanks for your reply Henry - I appreciate it very much.

Set the Controller that controls your system drive to AHCI before you start installing Windows. You can start worrying about driver updates ones Windows is installed.

After the OS is installed, use the install disc that came with the board. Then you can check on the versions & update if needed.

Thanks guys! I appreciate it.

Setting AHCI first  - yes, I understand it can be difficult to switch to it once Windows is installed.
Hopefully that's the only thing that has to be done before...

What I have in mind is: finish the last bit of wiring, install the SSD boot drive, double-check the BIOS menu for AHCI...
install the OS, install anti-virus, go to microsoft and get the patches, then figure out if I need any new drivers...If I run some of the standard tests, hopefully they'll expose whether I need new drivers...

Thanks again for your replies.
