Hello,

About a couple of months ago I noticed that my fans are performing slower, i.e. running at about 85% even if I had set the fan speeds manually to 100%. So I ordered a new set of fans, installed them and got back to about 98% fan speed.

The other day the fans started acting up again. Now out of the three, only the right fan is running continuously and the middle and left fans start to spin one at the time just for a second and then turn off all together continuously.

Does anyone know if this is an issue with the fans or is it on the GPU's fan drivers? Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Thanks,

You prob wanna verify whether it can go max speed first. Can you install MSI Center\Graphics Fan tool, inside there should be an item called cooler boost, when you click it, it should go full spin. If it does go 100%, perhaps you have multiple fan control software that conflicts with each other and cause problem to the fan?
which tool do you use?

Thank you for your response.
I tried that, with cooler boost it goes to about 95%. However, It looks like there is a hardware issue and now instead of left and center fans alternating between each other the two outer fans are running at about 95% and the center fan tries to spin for about a second and then stops continuously. It looks as if the board cannot provide enough current or the fan takes too much current and then the board shots it down!

These are aftermarket fans that I replaced the originals with, and since the original fans seemed to be getting slower and now the replaced fans are acting up I am not sure if there is anything wrong with the GPU board or if it is still the fans.

Think your GPU has two Fan controllers on it one runs one fan and the the other runs two fans this can be checked in GPU-Z it should show each fan controller speed.

Yes, that is correct.
There is a dedicated controller (fan header) for one fan and the other two are sharing another controller (fan header). I think the left and center fans have the same controller and the RPM is only read from one of the fans (I think the left fan). So although the center fan is not running, the GPU-Z or any other monitoring/control software would report everything is working properly while I can see that the center fan is starting and stopping continuously.

Hard to say if fans or controller chip, do you still have the original fans, if so can you put them back and see if you get same result as ones in there now. if you do thn I would have to say ti is the Controller chip but if all spin about same speed it may be the fans,

Where did you get the fans from

This place seem to offer quality replacements for fans

Bad fans would grind or stop (which seems to be the case with the new fans) not running slower by 10%. Try to switch back to the original fans use auto settings and see if anything works normally. The try with cooler boost again (not manually set 100%).
