Whatever the controller mode is during windows shutdown/restart it remains in it. In desktop mode i can use keys to navigate Grub menu, use Ubuntu with controller as mouse. Issue is toggle outside windows isn't possible.

I request MSI team to add a firmware update based toogle to switch desktop/game mode anywhere anytime. I think keeping M1 M2 macro keys pressed for 5-10s triggering mode switch will be a good thing. Will make non windows work very very helpful and make device more usable to wider audience. More support is critical for device success.

In case there is already some solution that works please share.

U can switch between them using the button up from gamebar button.
Just hold it 2-3 secs.

This works on windows.

The menu key with 3 lines when pressed for 3-5seconds diaables the mouse mode in ubuntu or other state. In windows toogle is well supported but when not using windows its complete waste of hardware. I tried multiple options and online help but nothing works. Tested Msi claw a1m 135H. Unfortunately no standard solution is there. Cannot even use game controllers on Ubuntu 26 with kernel 7. What a pathetic support.

Update:

Kubuntu 26 with kernel 7 supports handheld pc game controller as both controller and mouse keyboard (some button press). Its changeable from settings of OS.

Still not able to find how to toggle enable disable controller modes universally.

I haven’t seen an official fix yet, but many users are requesting better support because it affects usability a lot almost like searching for a blade ball script no key redz hub solution where people just want a simpler and more flexible experience.

It sounds like the controller mode is locked to whatever state it was in before shutdown, which can be really frustrating for Linux or dual-boot users. A firmware-based shortcut, like holding M1 + M2 for a few seconds, would honestly make switching between desktop and game mode much easier outside of Windows.
