There is a firmware update available for the MAG274QRF-QD, I wanted to flash this to my monitor, but when I select the firmware file in Gaming OSD it tells me "file reading failed"
Any other way to flash it?
I also could not find any instructions.

Use this new GamingOSD v0.0.2.54 version: [that will be soon available on msi web site too]
and should fix this issue.

Before proceed with installation, please manually remove your current GamingOSD version 1st.

Thank you, now I do have some problems with USB/Connect disconnect (sound is that same sound) when the monitor is going to standby.
constant connect/disconnect sound. it also said that the update failed but it did update.

I can confirm, that I had the exact same experience as Bastian. It said update failed, but it updated to version FW.015 from FW.011.

Anyone know what the update does?

The second time it worked just like the first time and said success, but it introduces a new bug, when the monitor is turned off by windows for power saving every 6 seconds a connect/disconnect sounds. It is really annoying.
edit: it is not the USB, it must be the display cable itself that causes the connect/disconnect issue.
well not the cable but the fact that switching that on and off. The cable is fine.

The bug I hoped it solved I found out is actually a limitation of DisplayPort 1.2... but hey I turned off HDR for now to save 70 watts of power.
I'll turn it on when I have the need for it.

You can try to turn off "Auto Scan" in OSD menu then check if it solves your problem (connect and disconnect sounds).

Or more importantly, what does the firmware update do/fix?
It seems to add an sRGB mode, which is nice, I guess. However, in exchange for that they completely screwed up the ability to properly calibrate the monitor. When setting the user color temperature you can't adjust the brightness and it runs about 110 nits, which is way too low to be useful.

I'd definitely recommend anyone that cares about having a correctly calibrated monitor skip this update.

It still doesn't work for me on the 2.54 firmware. Using Displayport, usb upstream connected and all. Tried uninstalling it several times, redownloading without anti-virus etc., nothing helps. One weird thing is that Gaming OSD still says '2.0' at the top even though the installed version is 2.54, is it the same for you guys?

When you say firmware you keep mentioning 2.54, which is the version of the gaming osd software. The new firmware, if I recall correctly, is version .15. Are you having trouble installing the gaming OSD software, or are you having trouble doing a firmware update through the gaming OSD software?

Yeah, sorry, of course I meant the OSD (people wrote that the 2.54 version made the firmware update possible on this monitor). I made it work, after a couple more tries to uninstall and redownload the OSD it somehow clicked in without me changing anything and allowed me to update the firmware. I do have the non-QD MAG274QRF and the newest firmware version seems to be 0.13, SRGB mode is added so I'm happy.

Hello all.
I have tried the process in MAG274QRF-QD model, with OSD 2.54 and the correct BIN file, and when the process starts, it stops at 1% just telling "cannot update Firmware".
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: OK, problem solved. You need to have ONLY DP cable connect + USB. If you have also DMI from other source (no matter if it's powered off) it doesn't work.

There's another new firmware today, version 016. Maybe it fixes the brightness adjustment when using a user defined white point. I'll install it and check when I have time.
