So I have a z170 m5 intel and I was having an issue with my processor. It was stuck at .80ghz and I could not get it to budge up or down. Here are my specs for reference.
mobo : z170 m5
proc: i7 6700
ram: 16gb ddr4 2666
gfx: 1070FE
so after doing some research I found that there is in fact a slow mode switch on this board (for low temp overclocking), it also has an led indicating if the mode is on nearby the switch.
Mine for some reason was malfunctioning. I could not get the slow mode to turn off in either position. and seeing as im out of warranty already I decided to do something crazy...
DO NOT ATTEMPT THE FOLLOWING FIX IF YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THE SLOW MODE SWITCH IS OR YOU ARE WITHIN YOUR WARRANTY (or dont know what you are doing in general)
i cut the jslow1 switch off the motherboard and slow mode is now permanently disabled, problem solved.
