Hi Folks
I've been helping my son upgrade his machine:.
MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk
Ryzen 3 2600 > Ryzen 7 5600x
Intel Arc 770 (GPU)
16gb Kingston RAM

The new Ryzen 7 chip arrived and after inserting and hooking the cooler back up in, we got EZ status of CPU. We took that to mean that the CPU wasn't 'right' and copilot suggested that the BIOS might have been 'old' as we've never updated it.
On another machine we popped the latest version 7C91vAK, renamed it MSI.ROM popped it into his Flash USB port, and turned on the PSU > pressed the Flash button. After pressing the button, it's LED pulses red, then a few moments later the fans start, CPU cooler glows etc. It's taken hours to not change.
My latest cycle is trying 7C91vAJ bios instead, but that's been going for 45 mins so far.
 
Ryzen 7 5600x isnt a thing. new CPU must be either a Ryzen 7 5800X or a Ryzen 5 5600X.
Ryzen 7 5800X requires at least bios 7C91vA7. Ryzen 5600X needs at least bios 7C91vA4.
If you still have the Ryzen 3 2600 I would try putting that back in and upgrade to the latest bios.
Then install the new processor and see if you have any better luck getting it to boot up that way.

Make sure the USB drive is formatted as FAT32 format, and you might need to try a few different USB drives if possible.
 
Some directions for you

FOR BIOS FLASHBACK

The following Directions are for Windows-based OS

Right, Click on the Downloaded Bios Zip File, and select properties if you see the message this file is blocked by Windows tick the box to unblock and click OK.

When in Windows File Explorer, select the View tab and Tick the box Show Hidden Files and File Name Extensions.

Extract the BIOS file from the Downloaded ZIP file Open the folder it was extracted to.

Right-click on the BIOS file, select copy and then paste it into a 32GB or smaller USB drive Formatted to FAT32.

When in Windows File Explorer, select the View Tab and Tick the box Show Hidden Files and File Name Extension.

Now rename the BIOS file to MSI.ROM

There should be no other files or folders on the USB drive, just the BIOS file you have renamed to MSI.ROM

FlashBack can be used on a fully assembled PC even if the CPU is one of the new 5xxx series.

PC must be turned off for BIOS Flashback to be started do not turn on your PC the Bios Flashback will do it for you


Plug the USB Drive into the USB port just below the Bios Button,

Do not touch any Jumpers on the Motherboard

Push the FlashBack button and then release it,

About 5 seconds later a led just above the USB port will start to flash, after 15 seconds or so the speed of the flashing light will double this is the writing to the BIOS period.

Once done writing to the BIOS it will stop flashing and PSU will turn off

For 16MB BIOS, it will take about 4 to 5 minutes and flashing stops.

32MB BIOS will take 6 to 7 minutes and flashing stops.

People have said that it may turn back on if so just turn it off and unplug the PSU.
 
Yes, I'm 100% on Fat32 and I've used 2 different thumb drives with 3 or 4 different roms on them (only one each time).
At this stage, I would put the old CPU back and use M flash to do the Update

Was the CPU new or used

Where did you purchase it

Unplug the PSU and remove the motherboard battery for a couple of hours, and try again

thanks for the indepth instructions Alan. I can confirm that I have been following this exactly. Sadly, to no effect.
Today - I cleared the CMOS with a jumper and now it won't even go into Flash mode when I press the Flash button with USB in slot....I think it's toast. The CPU light on the EZ header remains on too. I don't think it's coming back to life.

Yeah, I've tried with the Old CPU and can't get any difference. Was new from UK seller, arrived on Saturday.

I've ordered a new MB - which when it arrives, will use the original CPU to boot & get it up and running, then use the M-FLASH process to update the BIOS, then switch the CPU over. 🤞
 
We also have to consider the PSU causing the issues. What PSU do you have in the system? Do you have another PSU that is not too old and of decent enough quality to test with? Read citay's Guide: How to find a good PSU for reference.

It is my advice to first test with another PSU and see what that brings. Worst case scenario to consider would be a faulty PSU (age could be a factor) damaging CPU and/or motherboard.
