Flight Simulator 2020 Was Freezing (frequently) Disabling Intel Turboboost fixed it.

In my whole experience with my MSI computer I found it to freeze up when in high intensity graphics such as cities. I did some research and a common suggestion was to NOT overclock. I had no idea how to find that on my MSI system but while looking I found the ability to disable Intel Turboboost in the BIOS. My problem seems completely resolved. Sometimes you just get lucky. Anyway, I found some other posts on the Internet that lead me to think that Flight Simulator does not play well with Intel Turboboost.

I find the game really depends on your internet connection too if you use the online features. For example, I'm seeing a stutter every 5 seconds. This has been traced down to my 40 Mbps service. Never encountered the game freezing though. Was fine on my 7th gen Core i5, but the GPU + CPU + RAM barley met the minimum requirements. Had to upgrade everything for a more awesome experience (bottleneck is my internet speed now).

As an update, after a month or more of the game running fine without Intel TurboBoost, I decided to double check my experience by turning it back on. It started freeezing again only minutes later. I have to conclude I am correct about Intel TurboBoost at least on my own system. I am fortunate to have 200 mbs internet speed. Best wishes, George

That's great to hear that it's working now. Another thing that comes to mind is Intel Speed Step but I think that only downclocks the CPU when it's not under load.
