Every 10 minutes give or take a second or two, the game controller disconnects on the steam machine (I can check the disconnect event in the log). At that point, I have to unplug and re-plug the USB to get it working again.

On Windows, I tried to update the firmware, but the downloaded update tool doesn't see the game controller and the update button doesn't activate. I tried installing the MSI USB driver update, and that didn't help. I am not even seeing the controller in the device manager, and no red/error indicators, although the device manager refreshes when I plug in the controller. Strangely, the controller dragon button does cause a game menu to pop up even though i can't see the controller in device manager or the update tool.

which update tool are you referring to? seem the MSI product page is broken again, i see it has a firmware update SOP with invalid hyperlink and nothing else :smash2:

The update tool also shows up under drivers. I since discovered that the controller is made to time out after 10 minutes, and I can't find a work-around.

Do you power off the controller first, and hold View+Menu button to connect the USB cable to PC?

I will try that. However, I have since discovered that the controller has a standard 10 minute timeout with inactivity. Not sure if an update can fix that.
