How to use:
Prepare an USB key and format it in FAT32

Short guide for now:
1. Run UEFI_Flash_Tool_Installer.exe
2. Select your MSI BIOS File ["Load MSI BIOS File]
load_1a.png

3. Select your USB key drive [from drop down menu, if the USB key is not listed click "Refresh" button]
usb_select.png

4. Click "Create USB Flash key" and wait to finish.
click_to_create.png

under_preparation.png

done.png

Next reboot computer,
and ensure in BIOS Setup:
UEFI Boot is allowed,
and Secure Boot disabled.

After exit from BIOS Setup while computer is booting:
You can press F11 during BIOS post/logo screen, then when BBS popup after a while,
choose the prepared USB key with UEFI in front as name.
i.e: choose to boot from:
UEFI USB your drive

then wait, and you will see the BIOS version shown that is going to be flashed.
and you can press a key to proceed with flashing.
If you don't want to proceed with flashing,
you can press "q" to abort at that point.

when flashing starts,
wait patiently to finish,
ensure successfully message on the screen then reboot or power off the computer.

Optional feature: [Patch AMD BIOS for CP_Flash]
This will allow cross-platform flashing to 32MB BIOS from 16MB BIOS for boards with 256Mbit BIOS chip.
The tool will auto detect if the BIOS support such feature and then will Enable that option.
[in a case when board was flashed to the wrong BIOS to help, restore correct BIOS]

Or use special version for Blind Flashing only:
(It's useful when need to flash BIOS without display [but the PC can still boot and works fine] and performs auto flashing)
For Blind Flashing only: Forum UEFI Shell Flash tool [V1.32]

Short instructions for for Blind Flashing:
[prepare the USB key for flashing,[use the same steps to prepare it as above] then shutdown the PC,
and disconnect temporary any other storages except that USB key that will be used for flashing]
Then turn on PC and wait auto flashing to start and finish automatically.
[when blind flashing is complete the PC will auto shutdown,
then you can remove the USB key and reconnect the rest of your storages and turn it on]

Note1: Be sure to place only one BIOS file on the USB key at the time, before proceed with flashing.
Note2: Due BIOS flashing nature, (which consider every flashing as potential dangerous)
Flash and use at own risk as usual.

Note3: You can use it to downgrade the BIOS too.
Note4: You can cross-platform flash back to correct BIOS 32MB bios. (if the board been flashed to the wrong BIOS by mistake)

EDIT: A video how to use guide made by user efmled:

Svet, any chance you have anything for the B350 Tomahawk? The MSI Flash tool just results in a blank screen. msi.com/Motherboard/B350-TOMAHAWK/support
Never had issues before but now that 7A34v1Q7(Beta version) has been up and running for a year or so, I cannot get the M Flash tool to work to upgrade to 7A34v1Q8(Beta version)
I've tried all I have seen, clear Cmos, use Fat 32 USB (4 different ones as well)_ and no luck.

The current BIOS functions fine but cannot update/upgrade beyond it.

And do you mean after flashing or unable to start flashing?

Hi Svet,

I have an MSI Infinite X (MS-B916; link to MSI support), a computer built by MSI themselves. Its latest BIOS is version 940, released on 2018-01-04.

I understand (based on CPU-Z, System Information, etc), that the motherboard is a MSI Z370M Gaming Pro AC (MS-7B44; link to MSI support). Its latest BIOS is version 7B44v1B3, released on 2021-11-17.

I would like the newer BIOS, as it includes Windows 11 support and ReBar, but the usual M-BIOS update tools etc do not work. I have tried to use this tool, but I get the error:

You have in earlier comments--where other people have encountered this error when they wanted to cross-flash their prebuilt board to retail--asked people to PM you for details on how to do this. Is this something I could try with this motherboard? I am willing to accept that I might brick (or worse) my system by doing so.

Thanks a lot in advance!

PM me all details.

I am asking if you have a flash tool that will work on the B350 Tomahawk, msi.com/Motherboard/B350-TOMAHAWK/support

The built-in official MSI flash tool, M-Flash no longer works.

I am running 7A34v1Q7 and I want to update to 7A34v1Q8

Every time I enter the bios and select M-flash, it says ok we need to reboot/reset settings and then it reboots and enters M-Flash but the screen is Blank and there is simply nothing, just a blank (Black) screen.

I have tried all solutions I have seen online with people having issues similar to mine including clear Cmos, used 4 diferent USB sticks formatted FAT32 and also NTFS to put the new bios on and no luck.

Prior to Bios 7A34v1Q7, I have not had any issues at all using M-Flash to update the Bios, I have used this board and updated Bios with M-Flash since about the second Bios version released years ago and Updated everytime a new version came out but now with 7A34v1Q7 it seems to have broken M-Flash and I cannot update the Bios to the latest 7A34v1Q8.

Use this one for older boards

Nope, that one is not for this class board.

Current one still can works for that, but in some case if switching between normal /GSE BIOS can brick it.

Thank you Svet!!

Your latest version V1.31 worked perfectly and flashed from 7A34v1Q7 beta to the latest 7A34v1Q8 beta on my MSI B350 Tomahawk with no issues at all!!!

Hi Svet,
Can i use this tool to move from an OEM BIOS to the retail BIOS. I have the same issue as this topic you posted in before: ( Which Bios? | MSI Global English Forum )
I just posted in there too but I read further and wound up here.
Trying to move to the newest BIOS for my x570 MEG ACE from Current: E7C35AZ1.1Z5 to NEW: E7C35AMS.1M0
Thanks, let me know if I'm in the right place.

Notorious MPG Z490 Gaming Plus success with this flash tool from very old 2021 bios 7C75vA6 to the newest time of writing 7C75vAD. Fixed load of issues in my case, thank you Svet!

Hey guys, so today I finally risked it all and updated the ancient(from 12-10-2020) BIOS on my MPG Z490M GAMING EDGE WIFI to the latest one from 25-08-2023.

First, I tried using Svet's method, but upon booting from the USB drive it kept saying 'There are too many BIOS Files on the storage!!!', despite having done the following steps:
1) Completely format the (4GB)USB stick to FAT32(regular non-quick format).
2) Doing an error checker just in case.
3) Running the utility, loading the BIOS file, selecting the USB stick and letting the program do its thing and 'install' the BIOS file onto the stick.
4) Immediately 'safely removed' the USB stick.
5) Rebooted PC, reset BIOS to defaults.
6) Shut down and started PC up after a power cycle + cold boot(and plugged in stick again).
7) Booted from USB stick. Entered v1.31 of Svet's BIOS flasher.
8) Greeted by the initial error message.

So that didn't work. Searching the internet for that error message returned 0 results.

Went into BIOS and started M-Flash. Selected the BIOS file still on the USB stick. Flashed. Nearly shat myself expecting the board to get bricked. It didn't. Everything seems to work fine except one thing - now, sometimes the sound loops briefly making that TRRRRRRRRR sound(randomly, but also when logging into Windows and also when I installed the graphics driver - didn't try anything else yet). Wonder what that's about..! I will add some images that compare the before and after in various ways.

Aside from the above brief sound looping now and again, the PC has been having small hangups which never happened before and I've already had 2 different BSODs. This BIOS update really seems to have broken various things, but the question is what? Don't really feel like risking things again to update. I only wanted this one for improved security and Resizable BAR. support...

Hope this helps some people, but there could still of course be a risk in flashing especially using M-Flash so just keep that in mind - maybe I got 'lucky'.

Can't say for sure it depends of BIOS security features that your current OEM BIOS is build.

Some USB keys can cause this when combined with the specified uefi shell version. (the one used by the tool) [it's some bug in the specified uefi shell's native function]

Notorious MPG Z490 Gaming Plus success with this flash tool from very old 2021 bios 7C75vA6 to the newest time of writing 7C75vAD. Fixed load of issues in my case, thank you Svet!

Well done :emot-tip-wink:

--------

Updated tool version to V1.32
* Minor optimisations
* Added mini display status, with current status and detected numbers of USB devices in the system.

@Svet I am trying to update bios on a Z490I Corsair (MS-7C77) board but get the error that "secure flash function is not supported on this file". This board is running a very old bios version and I would much like to update it. Current bios version is 1.CH dated 5/6/2021 and a newer version is not available from corsair. Can this be done?

You are trying to do some kind of cross-flash.
Like the full ID of the current BIOS.

The current bios is E7C77IZ1.1CH which on CPUZ says is by American Megatrends.
How do I go about updating this... or should I even go about doing it?

Here is the latest version for your OEM unit:

Updated tool version to V1.33
* implement self update feature
* a lot of performance and memory optimizations
* hundreds of other small tweaks, improvements, code refactoring

Hey Svet!

First of all, I'd like to thank you for not only creating this software for so many, but also for staying on top of this forum. Here's my situation:

I have a Corsair Pre-built Desktop (Model: Corsair VENGEANCE i4200) and am trying to upgrade the OEM (MS-7C75) version of the Z490-A Gaming Motherboard. I was originally trying to update the BIOS using MSI's website, and thankfully after being unable to do so, it lead me to this forum and your software. I now understand that I have an OEM version of the motherboard and can't use the Retail motherboard updates, but I'm in a bit of an impasse. You see, on MSI's website, it looks like they've updated the retail BIOS several times, adding support for Windows 11, enabling Resizable BAR, and more, yet on Corsair's website, the ONLY BIOS download available is the one I already have installed which is from 2020!

I've even tried emailing them asking for a BIOS update and they claim MSI has never updated this board which really confuses me because you can see on MSI's website that they have issued BIOS updates for this board. Clearly there have been updates since 2020, but I can't seem to find one for my OEM board, and the current version still on Corsair's website is: E7C75IZ1.2C6 from 2020 when the newest one for the Retail version is E7C75IMS.2F0 from 8-31-2023! Is there anyway you can help me out by finding the most recent OEM BIOS so I can do things like enable Resizable BAR, etc.? I'd really appreciate it!

If there isn't an update available, I understand. In that case, I guess I'll just have to buy a new motherboard, but I'd rather at least try first because this one is SO old. Thanks Svet!

There is no update for your particular OEM board.

I've even tried emailing them asking for a BIOS update and they claim MSI has never updated this board which really confuses me because you can see on MSI's website that they have issued BIOS updates for this board.

I think they mean for your particular OEM board, not for retail one.

If you want to experiment => ie. to try a non official solution,
you can try a cross-flashing to a different BIOSes.
(Have 2 alternatives in mind if you want to try it. Both should works, but this may void your board warrantee.)
If you want to try it at own risk, PM me for further details.
Note that I'm replying to you from mine personal opinion and not from MSI or Corsair one. [I don't work for either of them]

Updated tool version to V1.34
* minor refactoring
* updated self-crafted ME-FW for MSI Z790 boards to 16.1.30.2264

older version V1.33 and above can self-update to the latest one
