Hi guys,

We the forum team have developed a new way of flashing.
You no longer need a floppy or anything, just an USB-stick.

The tool has been tested together with MSI and as far as we have done our testing, there are no problems at all.
As long as the USB-stick is FAT or FAT32 formatted!

However, flashing is always risky, so if it goes bad it's your own fault, but that goes for all flashing you do.

This tool is intended to flash MSI retail motherboards and laptops,
but if needs you can use any other machine to prepare the necessary stuffs and the USB stick there,
before move the USB stick to the msi product that you want to flash.

The way it works is simple: Download the package and download the BIOS from the MSI website that you want to flash.

The rest is straight forward.

Make sure that your board is set to be able to boot from USB.
So turn on USB Legacy Support in the BIOS.
Boot and press F11 to get the boot-popup and select your USB-device to boot.
(some boards have a different key, like K8N Master uses ESC for the boot-menu)

What ever you do, make sure you read all warnings!

The forum nor MSI is responsible if it fails for you.
Nor is this software supported by MSI technical support!

Please report problems/bugs if you find them.

currently supported OS ( 64 bit):
Windows Vista, Windows 7 (also Windows in Virtualbox under Linux!), Windows 8/8.1, Windows 10
(all kind of versions)

NOTE: If you are having problems getting your USB device to boot correctly, you may need to format it correctly as the geometry data may be incorrect. You can do that by pickup option "Fix My USB key" from the Tool or by using >>> Rufus Tool <<< tool and make it bootable with "FreeDOS"!
For future usage you can skip this step, it need to be done only once if your stick need adjustment.

This topic is for discussion of and help with the USB flash tool only. If you have a problem with your PC and need help then do not hijack this topic, please start your own new topic in the correct area of this forum!

Hello everyone! I need some help, or advice!
I have MSI Unify X z690 mb, and occasionally I bricked my bios A (i accidentally turn off my pc while bios update, pls dont ask how xD)
Bios B is working fine, but i want my main bios back, and seems like i cant flashback bios A by using uefi flash tool or msi mflash, i switch from b to a right before i hit an update to start and when it starts nothing happens (o%) - db error code appears, as well as when i try to flash it using uefi flash tool, it wont flash it.
So what do i do? Give up and stick with bios b, or try to flash bios A using for example a ch341a programmer?

Can't you use flash button to update the broken/corrupted bios chip?

The same crap happened to me on X670E Godlike - but I had no power loss, only updated to a BIOS version that did not boot. BIOS A now bricked, can't revert back - neither via m-flash, nor flashback button (button keeps blinking forever). Full story.

Hello friend, my problem is that I cannot select the second option when I am already in the menu to update the bios. I am having a problem. I would like you to help me with this. Please, I will send you a photograph. It won't let me select option 2. Brother, it would be a great help. If you tell me what keys to touch, my motherboard is an MSI big bang z77 m power and it won't let me update the bios in any way and I only have this option left in this forum since bios b no longer works for me and a yellow LED appears

Hi @Svet
So, long story short, I updated my BIOS to a beta version because I wanted to upgrade my cpu and according to the MSI page the b350m bazooka was compatible if updated, and now I have bad performance accross the board. I tried flash downgrading the bios with the MSI official tool and was met with a message that stated that I couldn't downgrade. So I went to the forums and found the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher and tried to downgrade by using the tool but I didn't do anything.
Also I noticed while making the tool this error messages appeared
Attached is an image of the screen I got while doing the flash.
Any help would be really appreciated!

Good day @Svet!
Please, help me to update my old mb h61m-p23(b3). I've downloaded archive with latest bios from 2013 year. It's contains bios with ME update. Since I had troubles in past time with other m/b, now I know I shouldn't update it directly.
I've tried to use tool96 ver 1.28j to create bootable USB stick. When I ran I select Mode1. But looks like something goes wrong beacuse i got some errors on screen when USB stick preparing. The errors contains:
(twice) "G:\Temp\Svche.exe" is not recognized as an internal or external command operable program or batch file
File not found H:\oxibk.ptr
Process is stopped after and there is no autoexec.bat on USB stick. After reboot update bios is not starting. There is also no memtest on usb stick.

Will wait for you answer.

I assume you trying to do some cross-flashing to retail BIOS?
Today I migrated to 17.6 from retail bios, but this version is inside the same ME.
Now BIOS version is E7680IMS v17.6 from 01/13/2012.
The next BIOS version includes upgrade to ME8. And last time I had problems with different MSI motherboard. It remained in a state of constant BIOS update.
That's why I want to use tool96.

Hello,
can i use this tool for mb b85-g43?

i need to update my old MB MSI B85-G43. It is on version 3A and I need it to v38 (3.8) because I want to use 4790k i7.
I downloaded the file for using m-flash through bios update. When I choose "Select one file to update BIOS" and then I choose the file and Enter. The bios just freeze. Installation never starts. I tried different usb, different flash disk, different versions of update bios. But the problem is still the same. I am afraid to choose Select one file to update BIOS + ME. What can I try? Thank you
