Hi there.

I have a P67A-GD65(B3) with a i7-2600K@4.4GHz, 16GB@1600MHz in three sticks (4+8+4 configuration), and a RX580(4GB). Been running this configuration ROCK-SOLID with the beta BIOS 4.43 for 12 months, and for 6 years before that with the i7@4.3GHz, 8GB@1600MHz (4+4), and a HD6850(1GB). The extremely rare BSOD were mainly due to some USB/External HDD cock-up. Never had one while playing games (or rather, one HW related) or encoding H.264 videos, with CPU/RAM at 100%, for hours.

Yesterday, when I was (admittedly) doing things I shouldn't be doing (messing with the BCD settings of my dual-boot/dual-SSD PC, which locked me off both), during one of the reboots it made a couple of tries (like the ones when trying new OC parameters, although I wasn't changing anything in the BIOS except boot settings) and I couldn't get the screen to turn-on. Everything was spinning fine but no Windows, no USB drive and no BIOS/Setup. Only when I removed the case panel to start unplugging/removing/switching stuff and saw the steady blinking blue LED I realized what happened: primary BIOS failure.

What I didn't realized though was that "Blinking-Blue-Light-Primary-BIOS-Failure" doesn't mean "NO BIOS!!!".

To cut a very time-consuming, nerve-wrecking, story short: I had a working BIOS all along (that's the secondary BIOS), but because it was v1.18 it didn't, of course, know what a "RX580" is (nor what DisplayPort is either apparently, because even with the HD6850 only when I connect an old monitor through DVI, I got the screen to turn on).

As things stand I've already tried to update v.1.18 to v4.43 (twice) with the forum's tool but it returns "4 - Error: ROM file ROMID is not compatible with existing BIOS ROMID", and then re-flashes the backed-up one (v1.18).

I really would appreciate some help here. Thanx.

You need special archive to able to reflash to a different BIOS bases [x.yy => z.yy]
You can follow those instructions with MSIHQ Tool:
Hi Svet, thanks for the reply and, above all, the effort put into this tool and forum.

I figured it out. I skipped a couple of lines of the guide, namely where it said I should use the zipped BIOS, without extracting it (I was really very tired).

Used the tool with option one, browse to THE STILL ZIPPED BIOS FILE (as downloaded), reboot, flash, shut-down, clear CMOS (per guide), power up, enter setup, confirm correct BIOS version (v4.4B3), load defaults, save&reboot and presto: SODDING BLUE LED STARTED SODDING BLINKING SODDING AGAIN!!!

Entered setup, realize it's still the 4.43 BIOS, and then it dawn on me "I must have flashed the secondary BIOS only". Looked for the "Multi BIOS Auto Update" setting, enabled it, saved, rebooted and crossed my fingers...

PXE ROM prompt, led still blinking, external SATA controller prompt, led still blinking, "Flashing BIOS: 0%", led stopped blinking. Waited to 100%, when it tried to auto-reboot I shut it down and cleared the CMOS, again. Power-up, no blinking, enter setup, 4.4B3, yay, hi5-me!!!

All seems to be working now, did a few reboot/shutdown cycles, no issues, 16GB back on, no issues. Removed iME7.1 drivers and installed the 8.1 ones, still no issues.

I believe I won't be getting a new PC for my bday after all.

Perhaps Christmas...

Hi everyone! I have managed to mess up my msi p67a-c45 b3 with a non "b3" bios and now it gets stuck at "A3" when booting, ive tried to move the HDD to different ports and leave it disconnected but still get the A3 error, what i have tried so far is to create a USB stick with the "Tool94" and the correct bios file for the b3 revision (done on a Asus motherboard) and at boot pressed ESC, F8, F11 but to no avail, when i pull out and put the USB stick (located in the top usb 2.0 port with a AMI bios sticker on it) it flashes for a second and then the error messages goes to B4 but then nothing. Am i missing any crucial steps here or is it time to order a external flasher? (There is a header right by the soldered bios chip)

msi p67a-c45 b3
i7 2600K
1 2gb stick of 1600mhz ram
low end graphics card
250gb Sata HDD

Thanks in advance for any anwsers!
