Freezing issue on brand new MSI Modern 15 A11SB (Core i7, MX450 variant)

They're seriously having strong issues with these 11th gen MSI Modern 15. Sent mine back for full refund. Bought a Prestige 15 10th gen instead.

MSI must be in a bad position with all these freezes... I swapped and went for a Prestige 15 from 2019. Less issues. Just still bad audio.

Hi there, there is a new BIOS and ME FW update on Modern 15 product page.
Maybe you can try these updates.

I have updated BIOS and ME FW, but the problem persisted, 2 freezes per day.

I have disabled in BIOS "C States", "Intel (VMX) Virtualizacion technology" and "VT-d" and it has been 4 days without problems.

I will activate each one of them in order to know which one is causing the freezing.

Keep us updated. But MSI should be the ones INVESTATING!!

Hello,
When I activated in Bios "C states" the problem returned.
I have disabled "C states" and enabled "Intel (VMX) Vistualization Technology", "Vt-d". It has been 5 days and without problems.

So far I can say that "C states" is the one that freezes the laptop.

If I can find a solution to the "C states" I will inform you, but for the moment I have it disabled.

Halloo thanks for replying me.
I just bought this Modern 15 2 days ago, this kind of design to me is really good. I am going to take it to service center, should i replace it with same model? or i keep it and suggest the tech guy to follow your instruction. I really love this design and the display.

I have the same problem

Modern 15 a11SB for 4 months with some problems (2 laptops, mine and my brother's), which I thought would be fixed with software and driver updates.
Laptops are normally used to carry out light work from home (office, excel, autocad, chrome) and eventually some games but old or in low demand, like 5 years ago or more.
The defects or errors that laptops have are:

Laptops do not go into sleep mode, whether they are left on and go into automatic sleep mode, or click into sleep mode; the laptop always shuts down.
Laptops freeze during operation quite often, no matter what program or activity, even without performing any tasks or programs. This problem has been encountered from the beginning.
And overlit border on display.

This is very bad considering that these laptops are made for business / work.

Lastly, the screen always freezes with squares or lines, and the system totally freezes with a loud screech.

Both have the same problems.
Is this a manufacturing defect, the quality, the drivers?
Anyone having the same problem? What did MSI do? refund? repair?
Thanks

There is no fix FROM MSI THEMSELVES. If you can return them. Do it now. I bought an even more expensive Prestige 15 and the problems are countless:

- popping and crackling audio everytime I play or stop something, on integrated or external sound devices
- mushy trackpad (horrendous to you for a premium laptop)
- BSOD when swaping from ext. monitor to internal
- SSD corruption (had it also on the Modern 15 with 11th Gen Intel like you have)

MSI is silent. Their laptops are heavily flawed. I'm gone. Farewell and good luck

If you've tried to disable C-state and the problem still remains, I suggest you contact msi service center direclty.
I think the problem should be able to be fixed by replacing some spare parts.

Hello again

MSI answered me about the problem, they referred me to this procedure, update the bios to the version recommended by them, clean the intel and nvidia graphic drivers, and reinstall the drivers that they told me to download.

Well it didn't work

I still have the same problem, but now, the laptop restarts faster when the problem happens.

I have read in the forum that this problem, "artifact", is a manufacturing problem, the solution is to return the laptop and get a new one.

Do you recommend having another msi laptop?
