I am having this same exact problem with my G41TM-E43. I can repeat everything by Ionut310. I wasted enough time and money (BIOS settings, buying a different 4 pin PWM fan) trying to solve this issue myself.

Unless this will be fixed with a BIOS update, I will RMA this defective board and not buy another MSI product again. Too bad since I really liked this board otherwise.

This seems to be a BIOS issue so maybe this topic should be moved under BIOS.

You need to say what components are in your systems. You also need to be in separate threads, as you probably have different reasons for your problems. Ionut310 post suggests that fan PWM once worked correctly.

Normally if a fan speed is high even if it is told it shouldn't run fast, it is because it has to in order to be able to cool whatever. In this case the processor. Take the motherboard out and reseat the processor. Check for dust. Make sure there is nothing hindering a free flow of air towards the exhaust fan. Increase the exhaust fan capacity.

Alright then. I am using a Core 2 Duo e6700 with a Cooler Master Vortex 752 (I also tried switching the fan with a Hyper TX3 fan, same result). The thermal compound is Arctic Ceramique. I am sure it is set properly. My computer case is wide open. Of course, most importantly, the temps of the processor cores: they are both idling at 26 Celsius as I set the fan speed manually to 1475 rpm 50% (lowered from 100%) using SpeedFan.

I think from the fact that for both me and Ionut310 clearing the CMOS temporarily solves the problem until next boot suggests they are closely related.
I appreciate the quick response.

Maybe, I'm not very good with Intel motherboards. (Only managed 4.2 out of my C2D.  )

"I don't know if this has something to do with it but the cpu-fan worked fine until yesterday when i connected a 120mm fan to the 3pin sys-fan, i removed it later because i couldn't control manualy its rpm."

Heh. Before my e6700 idled at 52 Celsius. The temp decreased in half after I lapped it. It was pretty convex.

I think I will give this problem 10 7 days to get solved before I RMA the board. I am willing to work with you guys on a solution. I still think this topic would fare better under BIOS.
