I'm a casual gamer and just bought my 1st gaming laptop. I bought it for the Play Anywhere feature with Xbox. I'm new to that also.
I'm not good at keyboard gaming. And do you hardcore players prefer/ recommend Digital or Physical (disc)?

I'll play with either, sometimes I like to relax with a controller, for PC games a little windows app call Joy2Key will allow you to play keyboard and mouse games with an Xbox controller, Steam even has this feature baked in now, you can also buy a wireless adaptor to connect your Xbox controller to the PC which I do, there are so many options these days

Digital download is almost my only option! It is so easy to find all your things tight up in one place, and you don't need to worry about loosing your discs (which I always do).

Basically you can go anywhere with your game accounts. When you change a laptop, just login and download games. Like a breeze~

I use a PS4 controller since it runs bluetooth and can be charged from a power strip if your playing and it's going dead on you.  It works well with steam and also can be used with certain emulation software to play any xbox game as well.

For The PC, physical media is an illusion. Even if a game is released on disc, it is often using Steam (or similar) so you must download most it anyway. Many PCs don't come with a optical drive.

I personally use a Steel Series Stratus XL and a wired Xbox 360 controller.  I also use Joy2Key for games that do not have native controller support.  As far as media format; I will buy a hard copy of something I really like or if it is on sale really cheap.  Most games activate on Steam these days even if you buy a physical copy and of course EA games all activate on Origin.

I use the wired Xbox 360 controller.  It is inexpensive and reliable.

Hi,

You can use any console controller, wired or not,
The wireless ones will require more fiddling and the use of third party software like motionjoy, the xbox wired ones are the way to go imho ,just plug and play 😃
My almost 10 years old X360 wired madcatz controller works fine, only issue is it didn't come with a L3 button

Regarding digital or physical copy of a game :
I would stick using digital download most of the time , only worth getting physical for a limited / collectors edition game  😆 ,sounds so wrong ,not on purpose lol

Enjoy

I used psx1 controller before i upgraded my config. Really, it was the better pad before the xbox 360 one controller' Now i play only with this last. Advantage is anything you have to do for work it properly with vibrations. It is compatible with allmost of games. Only games that wont support controller will not work.

Most games are activated online(Steam, Origin, Uplay etc.). Usually I choose according to price. However physical copy is a more "beautiful" choice, since you can create a physical library with your games. Digital copies is more practical and efficient since you get instant access to your game.
As a controller you can use your xbox controller as it suits perfectly to most games(I use a xbox360 controller and I'm satisfied). Most games support controllers, Also in some fps games there is mechanics such auto-aim for users with Controllers.

Hello,

PS3 or PS4 controllers are a good option, you can connect them via Bluetooth or by USB, you only have to download a software (DS4Windows works for the PS4 controller). With DS4Windows you can connect multiple controllers and it works fine for singleplayer and multiplayer in Steam games and emulators. Sadly, there are some games in Steam that require an Xbox controller to be able to play them (i.e. Dark Souls saga and the Darksiders Saga for example). The thing with any Xbox controller is that you cannot connect it via Bluetooth without buying a Wireless Adapter for the controller. I know that Steam sells a special controller but I don't know how that works.

Hope this can help.

I prefer the Rock Candy Xbox controllers.  They work right out of the box and Windows sees them as just any other Xbox controller.

What do you think about the xBox one controller? Probably I want to buy one to play car games, with the keyboard is hard to steer.

I use a Logitech Dual Action controller and have had it years and just love the feel and it's built rock solid.

Regarding having physical or digital versions, I prefer to have physical versions but in this age of everything online, physical media seems to be dying. It's a shame as I collect computer games and you really cannot showcase digital versions of games.

Kindest regards,

Quote of the Day
When I was a kid my parents moved a lot, but I always found them.

With Steam adding a DS4 controller support and the DS4 has some really good features I would recommend a PlayStation DS4 controller.

I feel different controllers work for different games.  FPS game I usually prefer mouse/keyboard.  When I feel like using a controller though, for me the XBOX One Elite controller works best for shooters, action/adventure and RPGs.  I love the options with the controller, much like a scuff controller.  For racing games however, I prefer to use the Dual Shock 4 controller.  Install DS4Windows, pair the DS4 controller with the Bluetooth on your PC, and there you go.

It all depends on you, what controller are you most comfortable with.  The Xbox Elite controller is my favorite, but the PS4 controller works better for racing games.  I feel I have better throttle/brake control on the Dual Shock triggers.

I love my PS4 controller. Always used it for shooting games. Then when I switched to pc gaming it felt weird using mouse and keyboard. It really depends on the game. I prefer digital over discs. I bought battlefield 1 for pc and they mailed me a box..... and it had no disc in it, just a code. Still confused by that.
