I`m having weird issue that games crashes sometimes when GPU is installed on PCIe 3.0 slot. When using PCIe 2.0 slot, games won`t crash. Crashing happens rarely, it can take many game session before crashing (5-10 hours, even more). When crashing happens, game just crash to windows, there is no any erros when playing steam games, Ubisoft games always have that "oops it crashed" window. Windows won`t crash, only the game. Many drivers and BIOS versions tested.

Any idea what can cause this problem?

System specs:
Windows 10 Pro
MSI 1070Ti Gaming
Ryzen 2700X
MSI B450 Tomahawk
Seasonic 550W FOCUS+
G.Sill 2x8GB Flare X 3200Mhz
Crucial 1TB SSD + 2x Samsung 860 Evo (512GB + 1TB)

Since you have pointed out it's more relevant to Ubisoft games, have you tried to ask them about that?
Maybe they have released some patches to fix it?
Btw, what Ubisoft games are you saying?
Not sure if it will help but I would also update graphics card driver to the latest version.

This is not Uisosoft related issue, I have played many games and all crashes someties: Watch Dogs Legion, Doom Eternal, HL Alyx, RE7, RE Village, It takes Two, AC Valhalla... Many GPU driver versions tested.

After installing GPU from PCIe 3.0 to PCIe2.0 slot I have played tens on hours AC Valhalla and Far Cry 6 without any crashing problems. PCIe 2.0 slot seems to work in x4 mode, I think I can run PCIe 3.0 slot in x4 mode too. Meaby I try that next. But it`s very hard to say is this GPU or motherboard problem, or meaby something else.

Game crashes are quite normal you need to look in Event viewer to see why it may have crashes but most times there is no apparent reason.

When GPU is in the PCIEx16 3.0 slot it will be working closer to max performance as compared to the PCIE 2.0 x4 where you be lucky to get over 60% of max performance.

Game I was playing crashed on me the other day for no apparent reason and no game errors show on desktop but was logged in Event Viewer

And yet I am none the wiser why it crashed

My errors are this type (in Finnish):

LiveKernelEvent seems to be some kind of GPU related problem, but that I already know.

Live Kernel Event is just related to hardware all hardware not just GPU

All I can suggest to tm make sure windows and ALL hardware drivers are up to date GPU and Chipset drivers as well as all Network drivers
